I disagree in my experience it's 9R, 858, 850 etec, 850 patriot.

I've only owned the 850s but both the 9R and 858 felt noticeably stronger than both when I rode them

Well put them on drag race uphill and 858 finishes dead last most of the times. Throttle response is slow. 9R aint much quicker than 850etec (gen5)
2025etec is different than 2017 850etec. If you look at the parts list among the years, a lot has changed.

Out of the box the 858 clutching and mapping is really sub par. Poo at doo are a lot farther down the road on that.
 
I was suprised as the snowest podcast that all the riders agreed that the 858 felt stronger then the doo, of course poo’s 850 has always been lacking in power. Maybe the test crew got a good sled, its very possible there are scuds and duds out there being the first year of the cat stroker.
 
I ride a 9R. My experience with the 858 was very soft throttle low through mid, in fact that really surprised me. It was noticeably weaker than my wife’s Polaris 850 Pro RMK. I’ve never ridden an 850 NA Skidoo to compare, but my understanding is it has a lot more torque than other 850s. I’m sure the 858 I rode just needed some clutching improvements. The motor seemed to have tons of power up top.

In 22 poo made the 850 run a bunch better. I think they are more mid to top so a little deceiving compared to doo. Love the stronger bottom end of the doo. Clutching on my 858 made a substantial difference. Not a fan how it came.
Snowest podcast surprised me also until I changed Clutching. Those were supposed to be stock. I think someone cheated.

Well cat uses 48 srt helix so it sure feels it "pulls strong" but in real life its slow most of the time and feels sluggish on throttle. They should recalibrate the whole clutching to make it run light and revvy on deep conditions.

If I had a 858 cat, I would start with 42 srt helix and maybe 160-260 secondary spring and would work with primary from there to make it run properly.

I agree, we were in Revelstoke mid December and my friend had a 858 154 and I have a doo gen5 NA 850 154 and we dragged raced with the other 3 other Doo gen5 Turbos and the 858 was definitely not the first NA to the top. He definitely complained about the bottom end and throttle response.
