CRAZY MTN XTREME DRIVE SYSTEM FOR THE PRO RMK

I had a cmx belt drive on a 2003 800 pol. It was good but I didn't like the brake on the bottom at all. Took alot more force to actually stop. Plus the brake pads didn't seem like they were that good. Didn't last.

How much HP has this system been tested to? Can it withstand 300+ Hp and a 174x3 track?

If you had 300+ hp pushing a 174x3 track on a Polaris Pro, I am guessing this is the only thing that would hold up on the entire sled...

Thank you for that useless response.

If anyone has personal experience or if the manufacturer could respond I would appreciate it.

The CMXDS is stronger than most chain and chain case units. We have sold many systems to guys with big power that were tired of replacing broken chains and related parts. I would be comfortable selling a system for that application.
Thanks,

Very nice looking product :face-icon-small-hap

I see in the picture the foot stop is notched out for the disc brake ....
is there a cover that goes over that so you don't stick your boot into it ???

Like any product, we have improved our system over the last 10 years. We recommend DOT 5.1 brake fluid. We have also changed the compound in the brake pads. If it took a lot of force to stop, it meant that the pads were glazed. Our newest brake system works very well. Thanks,

The main reason for the cutout is to keep the disc from rubbing on the footrest block off. The disc does not stick through enough for you to actually jam the toe of your boot in. Thanks,

Impressive looks, and respectful business like answers...If only Turbo Dynamics could act like that as a Vendor my CAT Turbo...lol Yeah Right!!!

Yes, in 1999 when we designed the system we knew the brake needed to be on the bottom. Thanks,

no brainer really

Does the brake disc still float like the CMXDS I had a few years back? is this done to stop heat transfer into the sprocket?

Yes, the chrome molly brake disc floats on 6 hardened pins. The main reason it floats is to allow for brake pad wear, but you are correct, it will not transfer as much heat. Thanks,

I am just curious how the cmx system is more efficient than the quickdrive system? It seems like the cmx would lose a little efficiency through the tensioner pulley as to where the quickdrive just has two pulleys. It seems like two pulleys would be more efficient instead of three.

I was thinking the same thing. SO what kind of testing have you done to support your more effeciancy theory?

Yes, it is a little heavier, however our system is more efficient than the Polaris belt drive system. This means more power to the snow. Thanks,

We are talking mountain sleds here and weight is a bigger killer than power alot of times. I am not sure I would elect to goto anything heavier unless the factory design is completely a POS. And from what I am seeing its not the drive that is failing as much as the shaft bearing. The fix on the bearing is alot cheaper I would imagine.

i toasted a belt on my CMXDS a couple weeks ago on my 1000 RT mod about 15' from the top of a steep climb...lol Once i got it rolled and down to some flat ground(with brakes) it took longer to get my allenheads out and put away then it did to change the belt. Their customer service is great. I called them when i got home and left a message and Mark called me back the next morning and a new belt was on its way lickety split! Thanx Mark!
And we all know Customer Service is a huge part of this industry!

oh yeah, the reason for the Belt failure was because i ripped the right rear skid hanger rite out of the tunnel so my track jammed in the tunnel and obviously it had no choice. I'll have to post pics of the fix, pretty funny but was able to limp out quite a ways and get to the truck.

I know comments can get taken the wrong way over the internet and I am in no way talking bad about your product. I am just curious how the cmx system is more efficient than the quickdrive system? Actually the CMXDS has less resistance and will roll easier for many reasons, but one simple reason is our belt tension is much less than the Polaris quickdrive belt.

On the 2013 PRO that we did the install on...when we pulled the sled across the shop by the front bumper with the stock belt drive system the track did not turn...it drug. After we installed the CMXDS and did the same exercise...the track rolled free. Simple test, but very telling. Thanks,

What secondary clutch are you running with the belt drive system, I thinking about getting the team tied clutch instead of running the TSS04. Or does Italy a difference?

I will vouch that the cmx belt drive is more efficient than the stock Polaris belt drive system. The resistance between the two is very noticeable. I have a completely stock 13 pro and a pro with the cmx belt drive system. You can tell there is a big difference pulling them out of the trailer as well on the hill. I parked my sled on a hill with a very small down hill grade to help my wife get unstuck and not setting the park brake I stepped away from my sled to help my wife get unstuck and down the hill my sled went. Luckily it was a meadow in the bottom. I now set the brake every time I get off my sled.

Very nice product Mark! The craftsmanship is second to none.

Heres the thing CMX has been doing this for 10 plus years and Polaris has been doing this for one. You guys are just now seeing them because Polaris made a sled with one, they would have bought the CMX design if they were smart, but being Polaris they thought they would just come up with their own crappy design and get the bugs out using up somebody elses money and time. I have talked to the dealers that are familiar with both systems and the conclusion is that at the bare minimum you should run the CMX belt if not the whole system.
