Crazy Jetboating!!!

James Bond 007.....

Hey Frock... is that curl+ Dall yours and if so where did you get it?

A buddy of mine guided the hunter to this ram in Stone Mountain Safari's area. I was headed up there guiding for that season (2007), but a blown knee ended that:rolleyes:. I keep the pic just to cry over once in a while. It's actually a Stone from the Pelly Mountains near Ross River, Yukon Territory. It's 46 5/8 on it's longest side and scored 174 1/8.

Man I really miss jet boating. A friend of mine had a 16' jet boat with a small block in it. We would take that boat in places that were half as wide as those rivers.

Spent 7 of my early years in Alaska and got 2 Dall Sheep and my Dad 1. You could count on every August that we were backpacking into the high country and would spend a week and half looking and hunting for one... The first 4 years we never really got close enough to any to have even fire a shot... but that changed the last 3 years as we got one each year... 1 in the Wrangel Mountains and the other 2 in the Alaska Range (which is now protected)... Lots of memories for a 13 year old nabbing his 1st Dall with open sights(no scope) and by myself as my Dad had figured we messed up the stalking and headed back to base camp.... and then we had to pack all that meat, horns, cape, etc out... Beautiful animals, some times I feel sorry that we took them, but they had a darn good chance unlike most hunting now days...
My full curl is not as big as that 46, which is pretty damn big... :cool:

Sorry for getting off topic....

Off topic ThrillSeeker, but still a very good topic. Thanks for sharing your story. Sheep are a tough hunt, you should try them with a bow. I guided a couple of US bowhunters to a couple Stone Sheep for my brother in law (he's an outfitter in northwestern BC) in 2006. Planned to go back to this area for my own bowhunt, but knee hasn't been the same since my accident. One of the best eating of wild game, sheep ribs slow cooked over the fire are spectacular:D:D.

Cheers;
Shane
