Couple possiable issues with Pro

rode with a prototype last april in 4 feet of bottomless pow. the thing did not bog once with a foot of snow sitting on both the intakes. no snow ingestion. also watched burandt hold the throttle down on it for about 20 minutes straight... no lie. my stock 2010 m8 was bogging badly even while trying to wipe the intake vents off with my left hand.

Install Better Boards and you don't have to be kicking at em!@ Hmmmm It took me about 30 seconds on the prototype to see we are going to sell alot of BOARDS for this buggy.

those holes are for the radiator tubes on the Rush and as stated above, the shock access plugs work well to plug 'em up!

curt

ah, well that makes sense...Thanks Curt!!

Fbomb: got any pics of the new boards for the pro? I remeber hearing something while ago that you could get your foot trapped cause the front traction peices was tipped facing forward and would catch on the heal of the boot. Would this be an issue with the new boards?

Rob.... Thanks for that pic...it speaks volumes.... I agree that the stock boards leave you wanting.

The other problem is that the snow sticks to the sides of the tunnel and allows "ice plaque" to build up a lot.

IMO... The Better Boards will be a big strength and snow evacuation improvement on this chassis..!!

Thank you! I really don't advocate riveting into the base of this tunnel design and using it as structure. I've now spent many many hours cutting measuring and thinking about how we would do this model. The base is so light and is not load barring just like the IQ RAW. The support structure is on the steering hoop of the chassis to the outer bar and rear suspension bracket and finally using the top of the tunnel where it is strong. The new aluminum honeycombed bar is stronger then the simple steel bars of the IQ RAW. I'm still guessing that guys will wow those out and we will eventually market a chromoly replacement like our Better Bars for the IQ RAW but some time needs to go by first so some sleds can really be tested. This is the exact same board as our 2010 version of the 0069 and they are AWESOME! Great traction, super strong, super durable, clear out snow better then any other model. It's our number one product both in sales and function.

Now keep in mind a lot of other companies are putting a riveted section supported by the tunnel. I've dealt with several structural failures of that design and from a very very small sample so that is scary! Also note we have well over 3000 of this exact model on the snow...I'll bet you all of our competitors combined don't have 200 all told! We know it works and works with excellence. Thanks again

No different in how easily your foot comes in and out over bone stock. Maybe even slightly easier. We didn't put a cleat on the first evacuation hole and that is for safety. The stock footbed has elevated tabs even directly under the bar. The cleats are lower then the old days for that exact reason.

Also note the PRO footbar is actually slightly less trapped then the IQ RAW version and our 2010 Better Boards are perfect on it without any problems. Once again this is the sled that I ride almost every day. 4000 miles on one and 3000 on another. Also keep in mind with over 3000 units in use on this design for 4 years we would know if there was a problem. Probably one of the rarest aspect of Better Boards is the fact that our parts are designed by mtn riders for mtn riders. Not by some design engineer that hasn't hardly straddled a sled. Note that our front evacuation holes are 50% larger then stock. The stock holes are not large enough and a fully encompassed evacuation hole just traps and holds snow. Looks great in the shop works terrible in the real world! The only snow that is going to evacuate on those boards is sugar champagne and we get that snow about once a year if we are super lucky. If the snow is that dry and light it blows right off anyway. With all of this global warming I actually can't remember the last day we had that it was so dry it blew off with zero build up.

By the experience of doing this for years and making over 10,000 sets we know you have to have a certain minimum space or the average type of snow most mtn sledders encounter won't evacuate and you stand on an iceberg (SHOWN IN PHOTO). Now another factor that is going to show up when people get more time on the PRO. In order to clear the stock boards you have to kick it out. Stomping will not do it! Kicking moves the snow right up into the engine compartment along with your clutches! Bad idea and it's going to show up as such in a lot environments of riding. Im going to build a little plastic block off plate 1/2 way up and that combined with my Better Boards will fix that issue.

When will you have pics of this?

Also, how high are the cleats compared to the outside edge of the stock boards?

Pro-Rmk Issue

Hey guys, so i was looking at my new sled and i noticed that by the belt side running board there is no screen or anything and you can touch the belt. do you think this will be an issue with kicking snow up there or from normal use. i will try and get a picture one of these nights but if you own one of these sleds just look at the belt side footwell and you will see what im talking about. sorry if this has been pointed out already

FBomb= "Im going to build a little plastic block off plate 1/2 way up and that combined with my Better Boards will fix that issue"

Sounds like a block off plate could be integrated with the BB's on both sides.

Let us know when you're done with the 2011 Pro "Even Better Boards" :face-icon-small-coo

If you are venting the PRO (IMO a great idea)... SPG (Skinz Protective Gear) will be making UHMW plastic covers for the foot stirrup wall so that ice/snow cant plug them up and form a big chunk of snow there... That is one place that it will really stick.

SPG is also making clear or colored tunnel side UHMW (super slippery plastic) adhesive film that will cover the tunnel sides and not allow ice or snow to stick to them.... pretty simple solution for further snow accumulation on the tunnel sides.

This, in conjunction with the Better Boards will be an epic combination for the sleds in terms of snow shedding abilities.

I've had the Better Boards on my last two sleds and will be using them again on this years build...IMO, you cant control your sled if you cant stand on it.
