Coulter Lake Guest Ranch - Who Are We?

Since we are new to the Forum this year just a quick introduction. We are located 18 miles north of Rifle, CO and 3 miles into the White River National Forest. There are 6 cabins, lodge, and dining room where we prepare all the meals. You snowmobile 3 miles from the parking lot up to the ranch and your cabins. We meet you in the parking lot and bring your gear up. Our playground is the White River National Forest and Flattops. There are miles of meadows, drainages, mountains, and valleys to play in with the best part you are away from the crowds! Triangle Park, Meadow Lake, Blair Mountain, Bar H L, Rifle Cow Camp will all keep you busy for days. Check out a new spot with great hospitality and amazing terrain! We have cabins available and snow on the mountains! We offer year round vacations so can work with you on any and all needs! We look forward to meeting you soon.

do you have a website?

www.coulterlake.com This will be my 8th year at Coulter and the Mile Hi SC's 4th year. www.snowmobilecolo.com trail maps are provided by the Rifle Club and they do a great job grooming the trails. Sue and Tim are the managers and the family style meals are excellent. Like Rabbit Ears, this place is massive with no cell service. Give them a call at 970-625-1473.

My wife and I just got back from our third trip up there this weekend. We've done snowmobile trips two previous times (once in 2008 and once in 2009) but this time it was just a "getaway" with the 7 month year old. Matt picked us up right on time on his sled and the cutter at the parking lot and off we went. Incredible hospitality and food. Tim, Sue and Matt were great. Sleep in the cabins and then we hung out in the lodge most of the time, just enjoying the fireplace.

Great food by Sue for both breakfast and dinner. Tim found us a sliding sled for us to play on and Matt's timing with bringing down our gear (we skied out) was perfect. They really went out of their way to make us feel welcomed.

If I remember right, they can haul up your fuel with a big tub. Trails were freshly groomed. It is a bit of a ride to get up to the big play areas up top of the Flattops or to go out to Burro or Blair Mountain but we do each time we stay there. No big deal. Most ride up Little Box Canyon, but one can go West over Snowdrift Mesa also. We'll be back again for years to come.

Picture taken at the lodge. Our little guy "Indy" was reading the 2010 Snowest magazine next to him on the couch.
