Computer virus

My main computer is going nuts today. Didn't open anything, or go to any different websites or anything. I think it came from the local newspaper website. I went there to read the weekly paper and immediately got popups and notices and everything is messed up. I unhooked it from the internet and am using my other computer. I can't download anything on it, it won't let me do much at all. Is there a way I can download an antivirus on my other computer, save to a disc, and copy onto the infected computer?

I have a couple spyware and malware programs on it already, and ran them, but they didn't get rid of it. One thing that keeps popping up is "Antivirus Pro 2010" and another is "Security Tool". They look like antivirus software, but of course are not. How do I get rid of these? Thanks!

IF you don't have a restore point on your computer.

Download the .exe from Avast and Spybot S&D on your other computer, copy the .exe files onto your infected computer (flash drive or CD) and run them. Then after running them and cleaning it hook it back up to the net and download the updates from each of those 2 websites.

Antivirus Pro 2010:
Antivirus Pro 2010 is a misleading security application pushed through Braviax malware (Trojan.Virantix.C Trojan virus). This program is classified as misleading application because it reports false scan results and displays fake security alerts to make you think your computer is infected. AntivirusPro 2010 from the same family as PC Antispyware 2010, Home Antivirus 2010 and PC Security 2009. Once installed, the misleading application will ask you to pay for a full version of the program to remove non-existing system security threats. Do not buy this program. Uninstall Antivirus Pro 2010 from your computer as soon possible.

You'll probably have to start up in safe mode so you control what runs instead of everything starting up...otherwise most viruses will block attempts by removal software. Good luck!

I already use spybot on both computers, it didn't fix anything. I finally got Avast loaded and it's currently running a startup scan of everything. I've used the free Avast before and think it's obnoxious. There are always tons of popups saying what Avast is doing, etc. that I can't seem to change.

What would you recommend for a good antivirus program in addition to spybot or similar? I haven't had a lot of luck with free ones.....

I have ran Avast twice now at startup and it keeps telling me there is a virus that it cannot fix. It asks me to restart and run Avast. I have done that twice, restart and let it run for a few hours, before the computer boots up, so I's assuming it's running it in safe mode. It still can't fix the virus. What else can I use that will get it?

When the computer is booting tap the F8 key until you get the option to start it in Safe Mode.

I was running Avira and Spybot S&D and got this virus about a week ago. Avira wouldn't remove it. Ended up doing a System Restore, got rid of Avira and went back to AVG (which always worked well for me until it quit updating and the new version wouldn't install). Got AVG Free running, did a full scan with it and Spybot and it found the infection and got rid of it. I wasn't even cruising **** sites when I got it, like the original poster noted.

google 'Antivirus Pro 2010'

I found a message board that explained how to remove it, both manually or from downloaded systematic apps.

you may also want to make sure you have another system to log on like google chrome, Firefox and Internet explorer That way you can download from an uninfected server.

Don't use windows

Ding ding ding we have a winner!!!!

No offense Skidoogirl, but since I switched to Mac for personal and biz puters..... I have had NOT ONE virus or issue. And I don't even have an antivirus installed on any of the 3 puters.

Need more info. very interesting.

Yes, don't get a computer get a " lifestyle", a Mac. That way they can overcharge you for everything as there is only 1 mgr. You will be limited to what software you can run and best of all you'll be shopping for a hybrid and eating granola within 6 months.

No thanks, I'll stick with a computer.
