computer timing question

I have a 06 800 and put a 04 800 motor in it. The timing stamps are different between the 2 motors. Does the ECU need to be changed to match the 04 motor? Thanks

They are totally different engines. The '04 is an HO and the '06 is a Powertek. The computers aren't even the same physically, but you could try to send it off to get the HO program put in it. Good Luck!:beer;

I beleive the two are very similiar in their mechanics but the electronics are much different. The P-tek has a deto sensor and a tps I believe. Try to get a wire harness and computer for a 04 and swap it out, will be easier. Check with Big John and see what he thinks, may be able to use the 06 stuff just unsure and do not want to give the wrong info.

The engines are identical from the cylinders down. I swapped the head and related items. I contacted the local dealers and they have no idea on how to answer my question. I do believe the timing stamp if referance to the TDC and the stator location as the engines are assembled. Since that didn't change does the computer need to know that? I would assume it would be best to drop it off at the dealer and have them plug it in and check timing and such. But if it is not needed it would propably save some time and money.

If all the wires line up run it.

Only difference from P-tek to HO is the det sensor in the head and different electronics. oh and the rave hoses.
