I know there are some archery guys on here. Have any of you guys set your kids up with a lil one? I have been thinking of getting my boy a little compound. I had one when I was in grade school. I think it was a mini mag bear or something like that. Wish to hell I still had it. Me and my old man went to the archery range alot and it was a blast for me:)

Anyway he turns 6 in Jan and I built him one out of PVC pipe and he loves playing with that! I would just like to start him soon as possible but not sure they make a bow small enough for him.

BTW for those who would be interested in making a bow toy for their kids let me know. I made 20 of them last yr for all his little friends for christmas. They are super simple and lots of fun. Just need some pvc, electrical tape, string, wood dowls, a water noodle, some foam pipe insulater, and a plastic conduit strap!! I could text a pic of it:) All the kids loved them!!!

Funny you mention it. I was commenting last night how cool it would have been to have one as a kid. We were at Cabelas when we saw them.

Very interested in seeing how you made one. My lil' terds would love that!

I used to go to Wild Arrow in Layton as they are a Mathews dealer, but I think they've moved to Centerville or something. They are good to work with and could probably point you in the right direction.

Thanks that Genisis is cool!! The fact that it doesn't have any let off worries me a little bit. I would think they would need a little bit to focus of the aiming part.

Drape PM your cell number or email and I will send you some pics. They are so simple to make. The time consuming part is adding the CAMO:)

It is a great little bow. The reason they don't do a let off is because at those young ages they don't really emphasize real focused aiming. Basically they want the kids to build strength and develop good habits then worry about aiming later. In fact they usually encourage not putting sights on it for a while until the child gets some of the basic skills down. The best thing about that bow is that it doesn't have a set draw length, which means it will grow with your kid.

heres one for ya

There is a bow out there called the Mission Menace. It is a youth bow that comes from the Mathews lineup, much like reflex is to hoyt. My nephew has this boy and all i can say is its a sweet set up for the kids. they can shoot it to get the feel for the sport and then add the accessories as he/she becomes more confident. Draw lenghts and poundage has a large range of adjustment. It is a bow that they can grow in to and eventually hunt with or compete with if they need to. Wild arrow sells them i believe. Its what i will be getting my daughter soon..... if something diffrent doesnt catch my eye.
