Compare: Dragon 800 to m1000

first hes looking for HONEST opinions second he didnt ask about the almighty untouchable ski doo. I know its the only sled that will beat a tapex, walk on water and turn average riders into Chris burandt....PLEASE am I the only one tired of brainwashed ski doo riders who couldnt give an honest opinion if they tried. I ride a m1000 and have ridden all three(xp, dragon and m1000) they all have good and bad points. i chose the m1000 because i liked the power and the ergos fit my body...if i could give one piece of advice it would ride them both and choose the one thats best for you.

thanks, i think im gonna go with the m1k. I will be able to get more power out of here when i do a pump gas set up. thanks guys

Nice choice ACS!, you are staying with an adage that never fails:

"There is no replacement for displacement."
Good Luck and hope you enjoy yer new sled.:)

An honest opinion

Ok here's how I feel about this. Over the past few years I've riden on numerous occasions just about every variety of sled that's out there from stocker Poo's Doo's yami's to Turbo Yami's Poo's on Nos yada yada....... My riding buddy that I ride with just about every weekend has owned the following, all of which I have riden multiple times, 05 Polaris, yes he was one of the suckers and up until a couple of months ago HATED Polaris. Two years on a Turbo Apex. Tons of power but for riding around these parts, to big and heavy, too much work. And last year an M1000. From what i've seen, heard and personally experienced, the M was a big mistake. Let's start with a clutching nightmare. Good luck and get out your wallet to get a clutch that works. All season trying everything. Don't even think about running an SLP pipe on that thing, it hated it to. Not to mention you have to put seat on those things. Why has AC not figured that out? I know that a lot of guys have made them work but you will spend a ton of $ getting there. Now lets talk about the new RMK's. Hands down the most capable STOCK sled there is, IMO. How many people can spend $10-$12 on a new sled and afford to spend another $2k-$5k to make it run good? Not me. I know some of you can, but not the majority. Not to mention having to add race gas to the mix at what is now $8 a gal.
So in closing to this already too long post, that Poo hater i was speaking of.........snow checked a new D8 last month after demo'ing one. Get the D8, you'll love it.

Well you're a lucky man Slim. I once had a gentle ,kinder side also, but the x-wife, owning a couple of Ski-Doo's, buying a Beemer (worse than Ski-Doo) and a list of other negative experiences just ripped it from my grasp.
But, hey, I'm recovering slowly, and I know you guys all care.:face-icon-small-win

I'm going with the 09 M-1000 snopro le. SLP kit, boondocker box and BDX intake = right at 200 hp. YAHOO !!!!!!!:D;):p

My neighbor did too, he burned it down twice. Good luck

Rode both. Dragon has more throttle response and bottom end. 1000 pulls longer obviously. D8 way more manueverable and a more comfortable rider position (Cat needs to get high rise seat and bars). If I were a rider that sat on my butt more than stood I may think about the more stable Cat but I'm not. Cat would be my 2nd choice. Good luck and I doubt you will be unhappy with either.

Amen to that...other than I would choose the D8. The reason is not because it will put a higher mark on the hill, but because I think the chassis is day and night above the M chassis. I am used to the IQ chassis, but I never really liked the "bath tube" chassis of the M series. I know a guy who has a 2008 M1000 and it has burned down 3 times. Granted the dealer can't seem to find the wrench from his other tool, but it should have never burned down the first time. I think that there might have been an issue on the 1000's, so you might investigate. Warranty or not, it sucks to truck your sled in when your buddies are riding.

in my opinion the polaris dragon is the better sled, with porting, twin pipes and clutching ( the team secondary is in the trash where it belongs) our shop sled ran heads up with a piped m 1000. the rider position is better on the polaris, on the cat your knees are cramed into the console, hope this helps and good luck

rode my buddys 08 m1000 this year in all snow cond.was never a cat fan but this thing just plain ripps.very impressed, his dealler set it up right first time...the dragon 800 is also a very nice ride but still an 800:beer; no replacement for displacement

Don't own either, but ridden both of them several times. If I had to pick between these 2 sleds, I'd get the D8. It fits the riding I like to do a little better. I enjoy playing in the trees in the deep powder, and the 800's do just fine for that. I also liked the chassis a little better on the Poo. If your looking for straight HP, and want the highmark every time I'd go for the M1. If your looking for the fun factor, I'd go with the Dragon. JMO!

Just buy both!! I know you got the funds. Are you going to sell the Tm7?? Was it not what you wanted??

Dragon in my opinion...I have never liked the feel of the M chassis. But since you are coming off a M7 the 1000 may suit you just fine.

jim, i figured if im gonna be doing a full on film next year i need a reliable sled so i dont have any downtime missing footage and a sled that i dont have to tinker with but I still want higher hp. so im buying potratz 07 m1 i think. He is gonna give me a killer deal.
P.S. I dont have the funds right now for either, Know anybody looking for a sled deck, M7, M7/M8 turbo kit, CRF 50, or 04 pro X 440 lol?
phil
