Compare: Dragon 800 to m1000

I am gettin one of these 2 sled for next year. The first choise is a 08 dragon 8 used with a 163, holz front end, fox floats. Second choice would be a 08 m1000 162 that would be brand new. I have ridin both but would like some input from what others think. I could get a lot more power out of the m1k and it would have a warranty but I will save $ on d8 cus its my nieghbors and its used. thanks in advance

well first ride on my D-8 I rode with a guy on a 08 m-1000, we were climbing deep short hills(less then 150 ft but steep), I climbed everything he did...mine had 15 miles on it..his had 250...he took mine for a climb and came back shaking his head....he said it climbed better then the m...my opinion on big hills he would have the advantage..but with a few small mods the dragon really shines...gears(19-42), clutching(carls kit), some good vents, and the slp single...of course the m sleds liven up pretty good as well..but man is the D-8 a blast to ride and it does not wear you out..which one did you like when you rode them?

I'm going with the 09 M-1000 snopro le. SLP kit, boondocker box and BDX intake = right at 200 hp. YAHOO !!!!!!!:D;):p

Don't won either one, but ride with both all the time. Dragon is way more fun to ride. But if they are both setup properly the M does have the power advantage

Just because you bought a Yamaha does not mean you have to turn on us now. Just Joking you. The new power claw track on the 09 is going to make a big difference.

Get the D8 and with the money you save put it towards the BD pump gas kit.
NO M1000 will touch you no matter what bolt ons it has.
Plus the fact it already has a Holz front end and it's your neighbors is more of a reason to get it.

Go with the d8. They work way better in the deep snow. I have buddies with m 1000 and the slp 192 horse kit an my 800 rev will beat them in the deep snow. In a drag race I lose every time. My 06 rev has slp's 163 horse kit in it. If I give it a 30 horse shot of nos the 1000's are'nt even in the running.
The 800's are lighter and more fun. I had a rt 1000 and it was the biggest pos I ever had. The m1000 are lighter but are still front heavy when compare to the 800's. You can take weight off them but you can take it off the 800 too. When the snow gets harder the horsepower and torque are going to start to rule. I guess it comes down to what you want and what you like to do.

well after time and depending on how the summer goes both would eventually be done as pump gas turb. The ovs m1000 kit looks pretty appealing, 220 hp on 5lbs. Between the two when I rode them the 800 was stock and the m100 had clutching, y pipe, and a can, the m1000 ripped. i was very impressed. the d800 felt like a regular old 800 twin. And i did not like how the driveshaft makes a clink when engaging. im gonna try another d8 this weekend in the hard snow and see. thanks for the imput everyone.

I ride a 08 m1000 sno-pro with the 162" track. Love the sled and how it climbs and carves. Had a guy with a D8 let me take it for a little spin up a smaller hill we were climbing. I have to say I was very impressed by my short ride on the D8. I'm not going to jump ship anytime soon but thought I'd give you an honest opinion from a m1000 rider. I suggest trying to ride them both for a couple of times. Its funny how if someone rides ski-doo, they hate the handling of the m-chassis. And just the opposite, I love the m-chassis and don't enjoy the ride of a ski-doo at all. I honestly think the Dragon is right in the middle of the two in handling. Has a little of the best of both brands. Good Luck:beer;
p.s. If the highmark is very important to you, Its hard to beat a piped m1000!

ya ive ridden a m7 the whole season and i love the chassis after getting used to it. I rode an xp and I cant ride them. I rode a dragon and it is about the 2 of them combined. I will ride the dragon this weekend and be back with my more detailed review

....Yeah, right. Bolt on nos, D8 will eat it. Bolt on single, head, y-pipe, D8 will eat it, bolt on turbo, D8 will eat it...

....TAKE OFF THE BLINDERS!!

Ace

I guess your and my definition of bolt ons are entirely different.
pipes, head, reeds= bolts ons....TD8 eat the M for breakfast.
NOS, Turbos, Big bores = NOT bolt ons.
Or are you just trying to be a smartazz?

DUHHHHHHH??? Turbo anything out runs a stock anything. The point?? lol. :p
TM 1000 vs TD-8 ??????

Stock to Stock is the question

"Compare: Dragon 800 to m1000 "

......... and since the stock XP 800 destroys both of them in any snow condition ........

Who Cares ............. ?:D:D:D:D

It must be kinda fun living each day in that nether world of magical dragons and pink skies I bet. Good for you, don't let reality creep into your world there Slim, you just keep on keeping on.
