In regards to the comments made by a couple of the doo guys. Did your purchase of a doo also come with a lifetime supply and a free pass for all the wacky tabacky that you could consume? Oh no wait, I got it your using that new math stuff ain't ya. I got ya!

Riding your snowmobile with anything less than a completely full tank at the beginning of the ride is not smart. Ever have one of those days when you didn't think it snowed that much only to get up there and discover the snow is DEEEP? Yeah how's that half tank working for you now? Guess what you ain't getting any of my fuel so have fun sitting around watching me brap around in the deep snow all day because you tried to "keep your sled light".

That's the Ski Doo built in strategy to keep the ready to ride weight down don't let them hold as much and they wont weigh as much our normal riding group carries a few siphon hoses for the Doo guys they are usually not needed though unless someone forgets to burp their SkiDoo.

So you ride with only half a tank of fuel, low on coolant, low on oil? Last I checked most people like to leave the truck with every fluid topped off. And I know it hurts to admit it but at that point the Doo is actually quite close in weight to the Axys. Especially if you compare a 163 x 3 axys to a 165 x 3 G4. The 155 x2.6 will obviously have more of an advantage but it's still not 50lbs like every one wants to believe.


Let's just compare for a minute.

Axys 155

Dw. 408

11.5 gallons fuel 71 lbs
2 gallons coolant 14 lbs
1 gallon oil. 7 lbs.


Total 500


Skidoo G4.

Dw 434

9.5 gallons of fuel. 59 lbs
1.5 gallons coolant. 11 lbs
1 gallon oil. 7 lbs


511 lbs ready to ride.

11 lbs difference. Wow. Not so much difference any more.


Let's look at a 163 x 3 axys vs a 165 x 3 G4.


Axys dw 426
Add the 92 lbs of fluids
518 lbs

G4 dw. 441
Add 77 lbs of fluids.
518 lbs.

?

Just a disclaimer My weights of oil and coolant may be off by a few lbs but the bottom line is they are real damn close in rtr weight

Ready to ride for Skidoo has to include the extra gas on the tunnel and the weight of the can!
9.5 gallons cuts the day short.
They need the extra gas to go a full day.
Maybe the 850 with 4 injectors will get better mileage?

Since back in 08 when doo came out with the light weight xp.. I have never strapped a jerry can on yet.. And 99 percent of the rides since then fuel has not been a limiting factor.. Need some real long days in May before it even gets my interest up..

So for me the gallon less of fuel on the doos is a pretty safe bet and don't see even a problem for the boosted sleds..

Not sure why doo makes it a gallon container for oil, even on the Etec, you can easy run three days on a full jug before any low lights flicker.. And now this motor is 40 percent better yet..

They have the RTR weights as:

either you are lying, or you are riding like a pu$$y compared to them. i've rode with pro's for 3 years on an xm, and now 1 year of axys' while im on an xm. riding the same areas, following each other around.....no matter what the distance, how the snow is, including ALL VARIABLES, there is not one time i can say i have put in much over a gallon more than any other sled in the group (other than an older cat M8).


if you are physically able to ride 50+ miles of good, deep snow conditions in 1 day....then perhaps you need extra gas on the tunnel anyways. i know most people do not have that physical endurance.

Talking about fuel mileage on a mountain sled is about as dumb as having a heated seat on one.


When they are pounded in the deep they all use a ton of fuel. Last year on a super deep day 3 of us were sucking fumes in 3 hrs. The etec had to use a jerry can off a pro to get back.


Bottom line is I'll glady go out with the 2 gal weight penalty while the sled that holds 2 less will either have to back off towards the end or carry extra.

No b.s. one doo rider is better then me. But the best rides in out area 3 on axys 1 on a doo. The axys guys always get better millage.. the stock doo 162x3" and a stock 162x2.6" axys, the doo has the slightest edge in straight up climb.. the piped axys take the doo every time but that's stock to piped. In the trees the axys shines well above the doo. And we'll the best doo rider can go the same places, he is working his *** off for it. And when the snow is over the hood deep the axys is also much better. Mabe other people see different results just saying what were seeing in my area.

Well to put this back on topic........I predict poo to hit the 400lbs mark this year while also addressing issues like a-arms and any motor issues( it is a new motor it will need tweaks) and hopefully making the goggle box big enough to get a pair of goggles in it but overall nothing to crazy

Exactly. Until tomorrow it's pretty hard to compare a 17 Doo until something that doesn't technically exist yet. You are comparing apples to rocks

Been wondering the same thing.. last axys I seen on the scale ready to ride was 525, and would think the new doo will be more than that.. Be nice to see some real weights once..

Thats why I had the little disclaimer in there about the weights not being 100% perfect. All I was saying is the G4 is getting close in rtr weights. Nothing more. Anyway this thread is about something else so I'm not going to get off course here any more.

Of course they will get better mileage. Their mileage is great as they sit at the bottom of the hill watching the Polaris guys.
