Come on Polaris, leak some 2017 photos

Any idea what the Polaris weight is ready to ride for a long day would be.. I think you will find they are a lot closer than you first thought

Wish Polaris the best if they come out with the factory turbo, and wish doo would of done the same
I bet mine with a slp pipe is under 500 full of fluids i have a scale ill have to weigh it whenever i have it full

It will not be under 400 with gas, oil and coolant. That is impossible. My 163 is slightly under 400 lbs. dry weight because I have a Diamond S Titanium Quiet muffler on it. Full of fluids including gas will add close to 100 lbs. to the weight.

Dry wieght, RTR weight, RTR + rider weight, RTR + rider + snow weight. Holy moly that's a lot of classes. I quess everyone wants a trophy to take home.

You know Fred, after you or I put our fat *sses on the sled and our gear all the weight stuff gets even closer. How can it make any difference? Just a few pounds out 800ish or 900ish in reality.
I'm sure you will be the first to subtract 9 or 10 lbs with a can. Why, when they are so close in RTR weight? You got money burning a hole in your pocket? You carry a weigh scale ticket up in the hills with you?

Why? 'Cause it does make a difference. Can't find the answer on Wikipedia though.
Enough so that DOO after years of attempting to overcome sled weight and how it feels between your legs with flexy stuff, they just started over with a Polaris chassis right in the engineering room.
If you can't beat them,,, join 'em. Deny all you want but you have to thank Poo for your new Doo. Enjoy.

Cast bulkhead, can't come up with anything better, lets use it. Extruded running boards, duh, but only on the X. Holes in the mud flap? Might as well. Small light seat, I guess it makes sense eh. Room for your knees, yeah let's Doo it.
Seems "paneling out" is a thing. Tabernack!! Let's skinny it up as best we can. Nose draggin' braking, lets get rid of that too.
You really have to appreciate how hard it must have been for those French Canadian engineers to "bend" towards Poo. They're a pretty proud bunch that changed chassis design with the Rev and I'm sure they tried a bunch of stuff while the Pro chassis sat in front of them for 6yrs.

'17 Poo? I'm pretty sure they knew of the new Doo before us. Don't think they really have to do anything drastic and the refinements were probably ready in 2015.
The exciting thing is Poo has been on a "sales vacation" for 6 yrs so they have to have the next gen of skinny and light pretty close to ready.

The new Doo is a very exciting step in the right direction of skinny and light. Especially with the new 850 engine and primary.
Us Canucks are getting a fantastic deal on price too. Tempting.
One thing I will keep my eye on (besides the local demo days!) is how many teeth are actually grabbing at any point of time with the new pitch track cause I see they have not addressed the loose track issue yet.

But,,, IMO it still has not quite caught up to the Gen 1 of skinny and light Poo I currently have.
My '13 Pro has been trouble free, I don't need anymore trophy's, maybe you'll get up first, but I'll still get there sweat free and with a smile.
Don't need a turbo for that.

Regarding the free jacket/gear conversation...

I know people that buy a new sled every year so they wouldn't want a new beacon or even a new jacket every year but I still think it's a good idea to add in a gear package. Polaris already does something at snow check like "4 year warranty OR 2 year warranty +GPS gauge OR 2 year warranty + $500 in Poo gear". The problem is very few people want to sacrifice the warranty. Even if you never use it you need it to sell the sled.

I would like to see a 4 year warranty PLUS one of the following...
-$300 in Klim gear (it won't cost Polaris $300)
-Tracker3 beacon from BCS (because they support snowmobiling)
-$500 voucher for Burandt's Back Country
-$500 off of the price of the sled

That last one is the big one. What if Polaris lowered the price of the Axys by a few hundred over the 16's? Sure I'd be pissed because I bought a 16, but that would help push some non-branded riders to go to Polaris instead of Doo. The Doo could end up being a good $1k more in that case.

Polaris, are you listening?

weight does matter. I jump on an m8 and I can feel the difference compared to my axys. The pro makes me a much better rider. Ski doo lost 25 lbs and now weighs 440. I thought that it weighed 443 last year. And the dyno put them at 163hp last year on the 800. Now it gained 10% and its at 165? If this was released last year i still would have purchased my axys. With my slp pipe kit it does everything i want it to do and doesnt wear me out as fast. I own two ski doo mtn sleds, 1 m sled, and this axys. Best sled to date.

Right thats why i said under 500. Not 400

Actually kinda impressed that skidoo got so many things right......
Clutch
Cast bulkhead
Slightly skinnier.
Power / centered

They missed on the steering post.
The lines/looks.
Colors (so far)
Wide tunnel plus brake/chaincase (wide horse)
Tmotion / torsion spring

We'll see how the handling stacks up. That will be the deciding factor.

Doubt ski-doo will ever change the steering post its a ski-doo thing and many people myself included love it, I personally can't stand Polaris/ cat steering

The ONLY way to accurately compare sled weights is using their DRY WEIGHT, or by adding the exact same amount of fluids to each of them. The doo doo has a smaller fuel tank (about 2 gallons), holds less oil, and coolant, as i understand it. No wonder their marketing team, and the doo doo guys want to get the focus on RTR weight with all fluids full, rather than the dry weight.

Bottom line . . .The new doo doo is another "fat girl" . . . just not quite as chubby as she once was :)

I heard the new Doo is 440 lbs. Nobody over here is very concerned. There is a reason nobody over here is posting about the new fat kid. When you're on the best you don't worry about the rest.

i've got a new Axys. Awesome sled. However, don't kid yourself. That new Doo 850 will probably put the hurting on any stock Axys... Now, i don't like their steering, and the Doo is very weird looking - BUT - they work pretty damn well. Don't put your Poo blinders on. That new Doo is gonna be tough to beat!

So you ride your sled without any fluids? Makes sense.

So you ride with only half a tank of fuel, low on coolant, low on oil? Last I checked most people like to leave the truck with every fluid topped off. And I know it hurts to admit it but at that point the Doo is actually quite close in weight to the Axys. Especially if you compare a 163 x 3 axys to a 165 x 3 G4. The 155 x2.6 will obviously have more of an advantage but it's still not 50lbs like every one wants to believe.

Let's just compare for a minute.

Axys 155

Dw. 408

11.5 gallons fuel 71 lbs
2 gallons coolant 14 lbs
1 gallon oil. 7 lbs.

Total 500

Skidoo G4.

Dw 434

9.5 gallons of fuel. 59 lbs
1.5 gallons coolant. 11 lbs
1 gallon oil. 7 lbs

511 lbs ready to ride.

11 lbs difference. Wow. Not so much difference any more.

Let's look at a 163 x 3 axys vs a 165 x 3 G4.

Axys dw 426
Add the 92 lbs of fluids
518 lbs

G4 dw. 441
Add 77 lbs of fluids.
518 lbs.

?

Just a disclaimer My weights of oil and coolant may be off by a few lbs but the bottom line is they are real damn close in rtr weight

Doesen't Yamaha take it one step further and pack the Polaris skid with snow then weigh them?

I'd rather see the weight they actually weigh when your actually riding the things wet weight comparison is far better, I could care less if a sled is 50 pounds less dry when in actuality it's only like say 30 less ready to ride at the start of a ride.

Thank Mcjesus someone that gets it, I'm a doo guy and I'd be lying if I said I didnt wish the doo was as light as the po but it's a lot closer when actually riding them then most guys like to believe up on their high horse.

P.s. might be a doo guy but still excited with Polaris cat and yamahas 2017 releases. your not a true enthusiast in my mind if development across the whole industry doesnt excite you

Great comparisons..

Now lets do some numbers

Poo 163x 3 inch x15" wide is 2445 sq inches
Doo 165x3 inch x16" wide is 2655sp inches

Hp at dynotech (speculation on new doo since etec did 163)

Poo 155hp
Doo 175hp

Weight is the same for both 518lbs ready to ride..

Don't take a rocket scientist to see the winner here..
