Clutching my Pro Ride

Hey Guys, I'm a newbie to this forum. I picked up my Retro 800 Pro RMK yesterday and on the gas tank, was a dealer sign that stated this sled is clutched for elevations between 6000 and 8000 feet. Apparently severe engine damage can occur. I ride in Ontario, Canada and the max elevation is 2000 feet. I will probably ride in 1000 feet most of the time. Is this important and what are the recommendations for my riding altitude? Could someone explain how clutching will cause engine failure in different altitudes?

You will over rev, my dealer asked if I want it set up for elevation or flatland. I left it for elevation as our early trips are out in BC. And will change it when we have snow back home 1,600 ft. I believe all the mountain models are shipped with clutching for elevation but a reasonable dealer will swap you weights.
 
So I only need to change weights? The dealer I bought it from said they could do it for $$$$. I asked about the deails but he didn't know what he was talking about. If it is just weights, I could change those easily. Would anyone know what weights I should be using?

My Dealer (salesman) when I asked about the deatails he was unhelpful. I thought Polaris would do it for free or shipped it with the proper weights for elevation.

Anyone no what weights I should be using? Would the stock 800 Polaris Assualt weights work?

polaris requires dealers to clutch the sled to the customers riding area...call the dealer back and tell them you want it clutched for your elevation....its all part of the pre delievery setup and its on the form the dealer fills out that is in each machine when shipped...
 
WOW! Thats what I thought should of happened. I didn't think Polaris would allow a sled to be delivered without the proper clutching. I will be giving them a call on Monday.

Add 2 grams of weight for every 2000 foot elevation loss.Came with 10-62's for 6000-8000 feet so at 0-2000 you should be running 10-68's.
