Checking boost level

New be here. I just changed my boost gauge to a new anolog style, autometer. Is there a way for me to accurately check my boost level, or do I need to wait the first snow and check it on the hill. I know this may be a stupid question, give me a break Im still trying to figure this boost stuff out.

Check it on the hill in the conditions you normally ride in. What it reads on the trail or in the parking lot means nothing. Early in the season I normally turn it way down before leaving the truck and then spend the time adjusting on the hill. Once you do this a couple times you can probably leave it, and then make adjustments only when needed. (snow conditions, elevation, temperature, air quality, kicking your buddys a$$, etc) Good luck.
