Hey group wanted to bend yer ear. I have an 06 700, i have read the threads about the "better boards and such" and have rode friends sleds that have them and yes they rock, agreed. But being they die hard tightwad that i am i would rather use that money elsewhere on the sled. I have read various threads regarding drilling of holes in the boards and structural integrity, I just wanted to maybe make them a "little" better. Im a cascade concrete guy so they do get packed a bit. Do you guys think if I made them resemble the new stock polaris's with about 1" holes it would weaken the integrity of this board to much?
Even thought about drilling up with a dull bit to leave a little bit of a rough edge. I'm in the autobody biz so any tool /idea u guys have is easily accesed....ya ya i know its hack lol i just want give it a little better drainage for low buck if you guys give the nix ill just go buy the boards!
Thank you

I went the cheap route and got the holesaw out a couple years ago. I spent this fall putting a new tunnel on my sled because it was cracked out so bad. And that was with fishbone supports. Then again, I ride alot and ride a bit harder than the average bear. I put a set of MeatHookers Feethookers on the tunnel and absolutely love them. Great traction, snow is gone, and the boards are rock solid. Wish I had gone this route in the first place.

X2 for Meathookers. I've had both Better Boards and Meathookers and can't tell any difference other than the price.

Go to our website at www.snowmobilebetterboards.com and check out the products for your application. There is no way on earth that spending your time and energy hacking away on your existing boards is either worth the savings or the total lack of performance that you get from augering a bunch of holes. Do it right the first time and go get your monies worth RIDING! We've done endless testing and the size of the holes and the style of cleat are critical to performance and durability. You cannot get that with the existing foot bed and a hole saw. DO IT RIGHT!

Call Molly 1-877-292-0635 and tell her that I authorized a Jackson Hole special and get the show price on a set of 0059 or spend the extra coin and get 0059B (coated). $140.00 or $190.00 retail YOUR COST less 15% and you don't even have to go to the hillclimb.

are you cooking some up with built in fish bone stiffeners for the 2011 switchback assault?

Rob (F-Bomb) is right...

do it right, and never look back..

i have them on 2 of my sleds and have POUNDED them like no other....i am a customer for life...if you dont wanna spend much..get the RAW finish...but the powder coated ones dont allow snow to stick...

BetterBoards are the Best Around...and what other major company will support their products like he does...i can think of a very few amount and those that do...are on snowest..

aright...aright

well alrighty then i hear ya sheesh i just wanted maybe 5 a side....seriously thanks for the input ive heard of stories with the cracking bending tunnels, and im not interested! Yes, Rob the ones at 150.00 are a great deal, thanks! It seemed like when i was pricing em' a year ago they were more like 300.00 and thats goin towards me new spindles!

All you had to do with the old one once you drilled out the holes is buy a flaring tool. Two piece, draw together with a bolt and it flares the hole edges up for strength and traction.

I did the hole and flare on my gen 2, it improved things a little. The better boards made a world of , better snow evacuation and way better footing.

Yeah, I'm just one a them dumheckk old schooler SWers that reads a persons entire thread and then respond with something that sensibly adresses his questions and needs.

So, to the current STD SW answer...

You want a cheap version maybe half as functional option to a set of better boards? Well buy some better boards!

dont waste your time... better boards are the best mod you can do to a sled. having proper traction and snow evacuation is way more important than the 10 hp you'd get out of a pipe and can(or other basic engine mod). a stock sled with a controlled rider position will go much further than a slightly mod'd sled and iced up boards
