Heard the other day CATipiller will no longer build over the road engines after 2009. Anyone else heard this?

thats fairly old news however in light of the economy and such the latest is that they are going to be partnering up with Paccar ...

kinda was erked to say the least when I heard that ..I like my 625 Cat thankyou very much

So is it because of the economy or the strict emissions that their getting out. I too was disappointed in hearing.

the dealer here says that Cat is tired of all the emission requirements, and cant make the power that they are known for. they will continue to make engines for equipment

it was mostly due to emissions etc and the fact that cummins took huge leaps ..soo they were just going to stay with the equipment side ...however due to the economy and the drop in equipment sales market and the fact that guys were pissed to here that we couldn't order a new truck with Cat power after December 09 ...and Kenworth/Peterbilt and Paccar decided to get into bed and team up with Cat ...so not real sure on what the power plants will actually be ..but all I can tell you is that Paccar isn't in the engine business ..so they need that from somwhere

Is it Detroit that are taking over the C-15 design and adding DEF? I heard someone was going to, but now I can't for the life of me remember who. CAT announced their leaving the over-the-road game a while ago. It was due to the Emissions Police and their ever changing rules. ACERT just wasn't clean enough and the millions in sales don't justify the tens of millions in R&D.

now that was the original story ..the designer for Cat and the boys from Detroit Diesel Allison were going to get a room ..but that was the rumour on the road last year ..please refer to my other post to the present day 411

scuttle butt at the college here (one of the best diesel schools with large industry backing) that paccar has a iveco (european cummins copy) deal for there trucks, iveco supposedly has emissions systems to meet the next 2 tiers already in the bag

ya well my Kenworth dealer just told me that I could order a new 650 Cat in 2011 but it is under lock n key

A reliable sorse told me that Cat and International have teamed up and will have an onroad engine ready for 2011/2012. The engine will be tested in Europe and in off-hiway trucks in North America. They couldn't get EPA extension for new emisions controls and didn't want to use urea injection.

Guys were getting upset with how low the power was on the new Cat motors with all the EPA emissions regs.

My dad is buying Pete's with Cummins motors for the first time ever(bought Cats for 20 years).

thats nice apparantly Father doesn't run up our road much because I wouldn't even take a fricken POS Cummins for free the way there are right now ..and trust me I was cummins for 7 years staight....major bugs big time, oh and by the way did you hear about the new Uria crap that all 2010 trucks are gonna have to run like give me a fricken break !!!!!!!!! ...this sh1t won't even be a storable comodity up here in the real world like how in the fawk is that supposed to not freeze ????????...it is going to be stupid bad in the next batch of emissions junk ..on second thought I'll just stick with my 2005 Kenwoth W900L Cat 625 Acert ...twin turbo over 684000 KLicks ...1 set of turbos and will still pull the balls off of SuperMan....pullin Super Bs up and down the Alsaska Highway .....while I drive by all of that new fangled Cumins sh1t :rose:

INTERNATIONAL'S LATEST, BASED ON THE CAT C15

"The MaxxForce 15 engine from International Truck & Engine will be a modified version of today's Caterpillar C15. It will be built under licence, likely at the Navistar engine plant in Huntsville, Alabama starting sometime in 2011.

It will not use Cat's ACERT emissions technology, rather a variation on the air and fuel-management systems developed for - and still being tested on - the 2010 MaxxForce 13 engine. It will also use "advanced" EGR, or exhaust gas recirculation, not the SCR aftertreatment system that all other engine makers will employ."

That's right from the latest issue of highwaySTAR magazine. The one with the sweet lookin' International Lone Star on the cover. And just when you think they outdid themselves the Harley Davidson Edition Lone Star is inside!

That could possibly be the most bada$$ lookin truck I have ever seen.

I do know that before the economical BS Cat was heading to the corn binder .....although I know that things have changed since then

i have a 06 & 07 C15 cat and you can tell the power difference b/c of the emissions. sadly the cat motor will be missed because if was a check the oil and go and made the detriot in the same chasis look silly

put it this way ..when all the boys see the "Double Deuce" comin up behind they know that their time is short .............their aint a train or a 5 axle running the Alaska Highway with the balls enough to catch the "Deuce" ..when I'm heading home ......
