Carl's 900 Pro?

Suitcase...have to see on your ride. Hope so..wishing the 9 would be ready for a demo for you. Beg Jack and I'll do the rest.

Just (litterly) limped in from the the 7 Devils Lodge Experience. I hurt my back in McCall but like a total idiot still went on the ride with Burandt. In about ten minutes I knew I was screwed. Well ride was a sort of...I puttered along in the back and did a days worth of survival/watching. Of course puttering along in the back of a Burandt ride is pretty serious business if you value your sled. OH MY GIDDY-AWD we were in some precariously risking spots just getting where we were going. Crippled and going back of the pack pretty much made it an all time miserable experience. Don't know what was worse..the physical pain or the unable to compete psychological pain from having to watch all of the fun! Super cool place that 7 Devil's and I must return in a better way.

Today is a bust and I'm mostly laying around in agony. Come on MEDS

I did let him run our demo sled because I really value his opinion on setups and such. It came back unscathed and that was good enough for me! His comments were positive on our 800 PRO with some gadgets. He just picks the nastiest stuff you can even contemplate and GOES FOR IT. Plus makes it and it's just everyday business for him! I saw a stock sled do stuff that was simply amazing. The guides were pretty astounded as well. I'm seriously wishing for a DO OVER.

Talked to chris @ carls again yesterday about the status of the 900. They are still roughly 2-3 weeks from getting it on the snow. Sounded like if they got a couple on snow with good results they would be available for us this next riding season.

On a side not they have a 660 pro with stock exhaust on the snow right now that he says was a riot. May have to get one of them for the lady/backup sled.

Sir F Bomb. As always, I had my people, call your people.....and obviously the "Big Deal" was headed to Wy....and you so eloquently stated;) Actually, my "Driver" is bringing back some sleds for us tomorrow from your neck of the woods :)

As fot the 660 Pro.....I spent some time on it 2 weeks ago. That is one fun sled. I swear it feels WAY lighter in the front end than the 800 Pro does. Great throttle response and runs strong. I dont think it had quite the torque of the piped 800 Pro, but it sure ran good. I agree it would be a super fun sled!!

Well heck Rob sounds like we need to keep you on the trail with the ladies, so we can keep you under control, thus not substaining further injury.
Sounds like the Sevens where fun, well for some anyways. LOL next time let me in on the fun.

I will be talking to Jack hear soon, about the Nine, when I check the Pro for 12. He should have a ball park Dollar amount by then. So I can make sure to save enough pop cans for my new toy! Has jack said anything about the low end tourge on the 9, less or more than the 860.

Are you doing any riding in Jackson this yr. or is it all business this time. Im going to be in need of some good snow here in a couple of wks. And the way it looks in the caps, I might need to tavel.

Does anyone have info on this? Last i heard they were "a couple weeks out", but that has been a while.

Please post an update if you have heard or know anything.

Cheers!

sounds great ! i'm seriously thinking about puting one of my slp race 903's in my pro over the summer, ummm 200+ hp it should run pretty good. :face-icon-small-coo:face-icon-small-coo

Well I have rolled the dice and went ahead and snow checked again, Just hoping that jack can make things work out with the new power plant.

As of a couple days ago Jack has one put in a sled, and makes noise. Hopefully they can keep it on the snow for some good testing. I figure that it needs about six hundred miles on it for proper testing, so this motor will become a reality for this next season. They now people, that now people, that can help with this, I hope :face-icon-small-win. Seeing how some people can ride into june.

Many many people thought they saw one go in Bend on Saturday at Dutchman's. It was only a mirage though! Just a regular Carl's Pro immitating the big boy since it wasn't ready for prime time. :face-icon-small-win

It appeared to be anywhere from 2 to as many as 20 sled lengths faster then the other PRO comparison sled depending on the start in 660 feet and how he applied the nitrous. Weirdly it was only pulling 7900 and 89 mph track speed at the end...could there be MORE? Lazy (non) tuner wouldn't even take the time to respring the secondary for another couple R's. Booooo (and at 500ft which is a real drag race length nothing on the grounds but the really big open sleds could even sniff it)

Who was pushing the button? How, was the snow there at bend? I recievied some sick picks of A lakes from over the weekend while I was at the grind. Unreal amounts of new stuff up there, hope you guys had some also.

I was wondering about an update on jacks new toy myself, I need to call this wk for parts on the bikes, I will ask Chris and see how things are comeing along, if at all. Cross your fingures

About 2 ft total over the weekend but it setup nearly instantly where they allow you to ride in Bend. That place is a tragedy...miles of awesome terrain that nobody gets to use. More signs then a metropolitan downtown telling you not to be here and not to be there. They make these little tiny corridors for the sleds to migrate into these little tiny acreages of riding. All about a mile from some seriously awesome looking country. Four forest cops with the sole and single intention of catching sledders being bad even though out of 400 or so sleds in the area everyone was being very rule oriented. Just a sad state of affairs over there and I feel sorry for everyone. Just sucks that people can't all get along and recreate any way you can and want. The skiers we talked with (probably 20 in total) where all really cool. A few rotten apples and an over zealous administration have ruined YOUR NATIONAL FOREST there. It makes me very thankful for what we have in the CAPS as well as SW IDAHO.

Yea call Jack and ask him about the nine! Actually I'm incredibly satisfied with what I'm running! You need to see the video clips and hear the demo rider comments. FUNNY and very similar results to when I took the Carl's twin piped 860 to Bend. I was not at all joking about turbo dreams of some testers. THIS SLED was FLAT OUTSTANDING

Yup and a lot of that area was was closed in '04. That's what Oregonians get for voting in such liberal representation. I need to move to Idaho!

Have FUN!

Sounds like the only thing missing at bend was the sunshine!! The area they have closed off to the sled community is very sad, on that side of the state. That is one reason why I have not been in a hurry to ride over there. Too much locked up.

The new pro and some goddies, for sure is flat out a winner. I wish we would of had some better snow conditions when we went last, to get a better feel of what yours is like. In deep snow I'm sure it would hang right with the sled I rode this yr.

I did get a chance to talk to chris today. Sounds like they are very happy with the results of the time they have put on the 9. They are still fine tunning the map, more time more time. It is getting closer all the time to becoming a realality for this next season. The amount of time it must take to perfect the map on something like that must be unreal. The guys at Carl's Cycle are working there tails off for the customer. Crossing fingures that they keep getting time on it. The ideal yr for late spring early summer testing. LOL Chris said they are parking in the same place they always do.

Wish I had some pic's of everyone stuck in the parking lot a A lakes this last wk. end. Sounds like it was a mess, of course they don't plow this time of yr up there. LOL 1 to 2 feet of fresh wet snow really pulls down a pick-up with an enclosed.

...it was typical spring weather

Friday and Saturday mornings were glorious with both days on new snow and bright sunshine. The problem with the sunshine this late in the year is the snow is instantly setup...so if it's not really warm taking it to spring smush you end up on hard pan. It doesn't matter to me if it's 15ft deep if you only sink down a 1/4"! We had pretty good riding conditions both mornings especially considering the date...by afternoon it was mediocre at best. The worst weather issue was a driving snow storm (30 mph wind right in your face) that rolled in at the exact time of the drag races. 90 with bb's in your mug is unpleasant! It cut down on the racing participants but there were still a ton of people lining the track to watch. Made it hard to video but I still have the PERFORMANCE PROOF.

Well hopefully Jack has been after the tune on the 900. I have been hassling him mercilessly for you guys. He said the deal is similar to trying to figure out thousands of main jet combo's and so it's a huge effort.

This sled performed just as effectively in the deep stuff as it did on the hard pan. We ran a bunch of pulls on Moon which is a decent steep and average length test. (steep enough that with a 1/4 tank of fuel it would run out of gas part way up the hill and lay down!) Pretty good snow about 1 to maybe 1.5 feet new on a good base and we were the first to hit it. Beyond countable distance of separation between the PRO and an SLP single piped Carl's setup IQ RAW. As a matter of fact the iq raw sled was having to claw just to finish the climb....the PRO was GONE. Didn't matter on the rider either...we switched between a 240 guy and me at 170 with about the same net result. The IQ RAW 860 would not have been in the ball game either. I hope the 900 gives the PRO 20%-25% more then what I have going right now. THAT WILL BE AMAZING TO BEHOLD!

It is very difficult for a sled with inferior track, rear suspension, and a 50lbs weight disadvantage to make up performance with a modest HP gain assuming they are both well setup and running in peak form. This combo of little things is what makes the PRO so special.

Also note...I ran my IQ RAW that weighs 450 with a far superior Holz suspension similar to the new PRO and it was only slightly slower then the PRO but would KILL the almost identical other IQ RAW. It was about 10 lengths back by the time you reached the top of Moon. Only difference was my track and Holz Alpha-X. (plus 29lbs sled weight diff) Shows you how critical that rear suspension and the right track is!

Did you get your sled sold? I don't think i'll even try tell this next winter.

All the comparisons that you threw down last wk. is very positive to hear. It gives me some good hope for my new pro, if Jack does not get that motor in our sleds tell after the new yr. I should beable to get myself into some real bad spots. LOL See if I can make wild cry!! or cuse!!

Nope the iq raw is a tough sale especially out of season and with all the high dollar equipment. I'll just wait for the season to roll around and sell it then. It is too awesome of a buggy to give away. Of course the amount of try has been a sign at jackson and a want ad on this limited forum. I'll get serious next fall and someone will land a killer ride.

What you gonna do if the 9 won't run with my stock bore PRO? brap brap :becky:

Rob that is hitting below the belt, LOL I sure you where dreaming, when you come up with that one. But if that is the case Jack and the guys will have alot of explaining to do.:boxing:

If the nine does not come through, I know i still will have a ripping sled. Even with a stock bore, after rideing yours. Plus all the good info you had after the big wk. end.
