Can I get some feedback on an 08 F350 6.4 please..

My husband and I have now had 5 Ford F-350 and 1 Ford F 350 diesel truck.we tow trailers and use our trucks for work everyday. we have loved all of my Ford trucks, The 2004 Ford F-350 was one of the best trucks we have ever owned. It has tremendous power and fuel mileage pulling my 27' full enclosed trailer the way my husband drives we still are around 16 mpg. replaced. The exhaust system, and that's all that we have done to it, our Friends have a dodge and they cant keep up with us going uphill. we end up waiting for them.... its a very nice ride and very comfortable and roomy inside,, we hate going with our friends in there dodge the seats are very uncomfortable to ride a long distance.. we have loved our ford that just one opinion...:D

nice trucks to ride in, got 2 with ridin buds here, both carry 100 gallon slip tanks under their cross over boxes to get anywhere, both get about 8 miles to the gallon, ones got 64k on it the other 24k
also found out do not drive em in a blizzard, air filter setup plugs with snow and your dead on the road, to keep goin you have to take the lid off the air filter until the snow stops flyin then you can put it back on, who ever designed this setup evidently doesn't drive around in the winter:(

Just go to your local dealer and have them order you a seatbelt extension (they are free) and plug it in, you'll never have to worry about it again.

My buddy followed the wires and bypassed it.
I don't recall exactly how, (maybe connect the 2 going to the harness) but he figured it out without much issue.

If your going to buy a used ford don't go with the 6.4, it still has alot of bugs in it and my step dad had one last year and got over 15 recall letters!!!! the 6.0 is still the most dependent powerstroke you can but vs 6.4, 6.7, 7.3.. The 6.0 has been aroud for years and has a ton of aftermarket options to make it even better.. Go back a few years and get either an '06 or an '07 with a 6.0 and you wont be disappointed, and save some $$$

I was actually really impressed with mine! I even took it to 4wheelparts in salt lake and had them install the Tri Before you Buy bully dog power pup chip and man that thing smoked!!!! Even noticed a huge change when i was pulling the 30K lb trailer full of equipment from job to job! I really can't say anything too bad about the 6.0

My boss has one of the new 6.4L. It does look and ride nice, but MPG's suck and he's had it in the shop 4 times that I know of (I've only worked with him for a few months). I have a Dodge Cummins and love it to death (5.9). Or buy a Ford that's a couple years old and have a Cummins swapped into it!

For my main truck, I only want a Ford. But, my 02 is killing me. I hate that damn seatbelt alarm, more than I love the truck. It goes right threw my skull and kicks my last nerve. How the hell do you shut the fracking thing up????

The directions are in the manual...you have to do this whole routine..turn key on, off buckle seat belt something something...:)

PS Love the power, never know you are pulling anything...hate the fuel mileage....hope diesel stays cheap.

I finally returned to Ford after one Duramax, and four Dodges. I still own three Cummins powered Dodges....
There is only one place the Dodge is better than the Ford, the steering. I wish I could get Dodges steering on this Ford, it's a bugger to turn. Other than that, I will take this Ford over any of my Dodges, any day.
I just got back from a trip pulling 16K, 70 mph both directions, over one large pass. I got 8.5 average. Both my pulling Dodges get the same. The difference is I was able to pull the pass at 70, neither Dodge can do that.
My last tank running dry I got 15.6mpg. A good mix of City/hwy driving.

I am seriously thinking about trading in both my Dodges on Fords. Now if I dont have to change every ujoint and all brakes and rotors at 60K like I do my Dodges, I will be one happy camper! We will see though. I am at 25k now.

By the way, I run a Spartan tuner, CAI, and cat back exhaust. Stock otherwise.

Put down the pipe dude...

7.3 is the best for durability PERIOD!

The 6.0 is the worst diesel motor ford ever had. Navistar and Ford were in court over settling the warranty issues. I know 3 people who blew head gaskets, one guy had his under warranty. the others, $8000.00 Cad touch. the cab has to be lifted, and it takes over 40 hours to repair. Once that is fixed, all you have to worry about are injectors, and the HPOP, which aren't cheap either.

I unplugged the seatbelt connector under the driver seat to turn mine off.
But you should ware your seatbelt anyway

Not to mention they flat out suck for power. I hate driving our service trucks at our shop (07' F550 and 03' F550). Both of them are powered by the 6.0, the 07' an auto and the 03' a 6spd. Gotta wind them up to around 2k or so before they start pulling and going anywhere. I just about went bonkers when I had to haul a set of D6N tracks over to be rebuilt. Had to wind the chit outta it to grab a gear as fast as I could to keep going. Give me my 5.9 ISB thank you very much;)

I bought the 6.4! I have put a whopping 50 miles on it so far and haven't had any problems!!;)

This is a nice truck, we will see how it goes I guess...

check the owners manual, usually you can disable them.
otherwise yes, just pushing it will shut it up but it does not work in the 08's.

you made a good choice!

everyone does have their own opinion so here is mine... we bought our 08 F350 in colorado last august. we live in mn & drove it home. got 20 mpg highway on the way home. the only way we get below 15 is in town driving. great power towing a 8,000 lb skid loader & everything else we put behind it. very quiet & great ride for a superduty.
only problem we have had was moisture in the fuel last winter & a little howe's with every winter fill & never had an issue again.

best of luck!

whatever you say man, like I said, I simply had no problems with mine whatsoever.. If you drive any vehicle like a human being it will last a long time, there's no argument in that. Simply put, my 6.0 lasted me 300K miles and the trade in was still worth it. It was a work truck, meant to pull 40,000+ lbs on any given day, and it did just that. Throwing accusations of drug use and what not, how old are you?? It was a simple example..Like I said I HAD NOT ONE PROBLEM WITH MY 6.0 powerstroke, it did what it was purchased for and that was that.. two co-workers had 7.3 and they both lost the tranny, one of them twice, traveling and doing the same duties I did everyday in my 6.0...

Pulling 40k... uh huh.... NO truck is rated for that, in a 6.0l mill.

Were also talking motors, right? not trannies.

are we talkng your or your DAD's truck??

6.0's seem to be hit and miss... Mostly miss I would say.
I have had decent luck with my 04, still some problems though.
EGR cooler, EGR valve, 2 alternators.
I run the edge attitude.
My pa's 06 has been trouble free, and turns on a dime compared to my 04.
He runs the edge platnum and his truck runs flawless and has had zero problems.
My other co-workers with 6.0's have had a lot of issues.
One has his turbo torn apart right now due to overboosting.
The 7.3 is definately the most dependable powerplant out of the fords, the tranny is another story.
