I am sure I will have mixed opinions here but..

I am really close to closing a smokin' deal on a new 2008 F350, I am sold on the Cummins motor but I can get way more truck right now if I go with the Ford.

HELP!

Ford did not take any bailout money reson enough to buy ther trucks!!!

The 6.4 gets sucky millage till it hits 40k it is sposed to last longer than the 6.0 but no real inside knowledge

I would check out www.thedesielstop.com for more knowledge.

I am getting anew truck too what is a smoking deal these days anyway???

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm tough call. Have not heard a lot about the 6.4. When they first came out they had Issues though.

The 2010 Dodges are VERY nice!!!!

I am realy torn here, I can buy this Furd for about the same as an 08-09 Ddge 6.7 (with Quad cab), but the Furd has a crew cab and waaaay nicer interior. Around 34K

Had one for a work truck for a few months last year, put a few thousand miles on it.

Pros:
- Great power
- Rode extremely well for a 1 ton
- Relatively quiet for a diesel

Cons:
- Very poor fuel economy (best I saw was 12 mpg) with probably 90% highway commuting miles
- Had exhaust issues with the particulate filter cleaning itself, EGR valve going out multiple times

These trucks seem to be hit or miss, I love mine when it is not at the dealership ( trying to get a buy-back in 16000 miles have had injecter, dpf, turbo charger, egr valve, and minor trim issues) can get decent mileage if driven gently.all makes have exhaust filters on them and all have trouble with them, part of the reason fuel economy is down is they add fuel at certain times to cook off the trapped soot. if I do get another truck it would be the ford again just my two cents.

if you're buying used get the dodge... if you're patient, ford supposedly has a new smoker coming in a year or so... rumor that has been widely floated is 700ft-lb torque... 6.7L v8, twin turbo (not the dual turbo as the current motor has)... **not made by navistar either...

Ford and GM need new Motors to meet the 2010.5 EPA BS. The Cummin that came out in 07 already meets the 2010.5 bs:cool: So Dodge has a leg up and should be able to price it better too:cool:

That is if they are still around in 6 months.....:p:D

exactly my point... supposed to be an in-house designed motor... hope it works out well cuz the 6.0/6.4 motors have been "less than stellar"... the old 7.3 was a great motor though, reliable as hell and got respectable mpg's... just couldn't pass the new emission standards

I work at a Ford dealership (parts manger) and we really sell alot of these 6.4. Of coarse where we are the ranchers beat the pizz out of these trucks and we have not really seen any real big problems with them and as soon as they hit 20k they start getting alot better mpg. Just my .02 Oh just don't run them out of fuel this causes big problems and is not covered under warranty.

I have done a ton of research on them and been around them as well.

Great power-instant spool up-Starts in cold weather without any issues-ride is great-interior is SWEET!! only truck that is close in this area is the new 1/2 ton Dodges.

There were a few issues on the JOB-1 trucks so make sure you get all the updates if you get a JOB1

The only part I hate is the MPG's but if you look in the forum thedieselstop there is allot of guys running the Sparton fuel system with the filter delete and with the + 210hp tune get on average 17-22mpg I rode with one a wile back on small trip doing 65 and not pushing it we seen 24 on paper. These things are like a brick though in the wind MPG's realy fall off above 75mph

i havent heard much about the fords but if it were me id do with the duramax. if not that the cummings they got some good motors. im not to big on ford or dodge tho

For my main truck, I only want a Ford. But, my 02 is killing me. I hate that damn seatbelt alarm, more than I love the truck. It goes right threw my skull and kicks my last nerve. How the hell do you shut the fracking thing up????

Great trucks and drivetrain. The early issues have been ironed out and none of them were very serious. Engine power is great, the 5R110 transmission is damn near bullet proof (although I prefer the manual), very nice interior and great fit and finish. To me when trucks are compared it should be; payload, towing capacity and how durable the frame and axles are. Not fuel mileage, turning radius, ride and creature comforts. That is just me though.

If you can get a good deal on the Ford, buy it, it will serve you well. I do not think I could purchase anything from Government Motors or Dodge who's days may be numbered. YMMV. Good luck...Jeff

Push in and hold the seat belt release for 4-5 seconds. Or you could put the belt on......

I wear a seat belt, religiously. But, it seems I'm always backing up to hook up a different trailer, or the camper. Or, just open the gate, pull forward, jump out to close it. I'll try pushing the button. Duhhhh, should have thought of that.
