Can for 2012 M800

Most cans, if not all cans loose HP prove me wrong show me the DYNO sheet!

Unfortunately this is true for the most part. Fortunately the quieter ones lose less. I'm not sure about the 800, but on the old F7, the quiet Bikeman, and the SLP kept the most power of all cans. Most loud cans scavenge too good.

Hps can weighs 4.4 lbs, 16.7lb weight loss according to them:face-icon-small-hap also claiming HP gains in mid and top but have not seen any dyno sheets. Pics of it look great!:face-icon-small-hap

Wow that is small ! I read DTRs article comparing the 11 and 12 800s. The 12 has .6 lb less back pressure and less hp. They dropped some junk in the can to add back pressure and got the hp back. So... more open for sure isnt good.

Nope the Hps cans are not ready yet. They just sent out an email with some pics and specs of the new can. (A Teaser) Looks good in the pics though.

SLP cans have never been very loud IMO. The one on my proclimb sounds great, not too loud at all. Pulls same rpms as stock and does not bog in the deep pow once I cut the exit to flush with the belly pan.

HPS

I spoke to Scott over the Holiday- and HPS are cutting the brackets and should be out in about 10 days to 2 weeks.....
If you got to see his can at the Utah snow show on the Proclimb M8 Sno Pro- then that is excatly what we are going to get:face-icon-small-coo

As always a good product and not released until it has the bug's worked out..
Heard a rumor that the SLP can stinger needs to be trimmed- it is causing a blurp... they are supposed to be sending out notices to get the hacksaw / sawsall out and cut a bit off..... Just what I heard, :kev:
I for one cannot confirm.

BMP Full Velocity

Just bought a BMP Full Velocity for my PC800 SP. We will see how it is. Not sure I wanted that straight through design of the Powder lite, it looked real loud. That would suck riding into Cooke. Figured the baffled one would be good enough. Still gotta be saving 15 or so...anyone have one for their 2012?

I'm going to remain wary of the straight pipe style silencers until confirmation of zero power loss and no bogging issues. Did the DTR article you reference also report 175.5Hp out of a 12 Procross 800 with only timing key, fuel controller tweaks, added backpressure, and Boyesen reeds? Buddy has a subscription to DTR and relayed that info which is hella impressive. Talking with a guy at Speedwerx they tried several smaller/straighter proto cans during development on their 12 Cat 800 set-ups and got better performance with larger cans/more baffling to retain back pressure. I'm probably gonna go with a full Speedwerx ypipe, pipe, and can combo to start. Won't be the lightest set-up, but still a (claimed) 17lb loss and 10Hp gain. Hope some of the smaller cans coming out don't prove problematic 'cause a little more weight loss is a beautiful thing, but not at the expense of power or performance.

This might be a dumb question, but what's the difference in a 0-4000 elevation Can and 4000+ elevation can. I live in Minnesota and ride a little around home, and we go west a few times each winter. I thought I read something to that extent about the different cans for elevation. If that is true, which one would be best for both? Looking at an SLP can... Thanks

CO above mentioned having to trim the slp..

Yes I was the first one that had to cut off some length of the SLP exit from what SLP told me. All 3 proclimbs SLP has fit differently. Most likely many of the can maufactures end users will have to trim the exit length to get it as close to flush as possible. Since I trimmed mine down, it does not bog anymore. Also doesn't smash on rocks, stumps etc now. Not sure how there can be such big variances between sleds but it seems there is. I had to cut a full inch off mine to get it to the stock exit length.

I've got a DTR subscription, and yes, they got 175 on Billy Howards F800 SP using a PC5, Boyesen reeds, 3 degree key, and they dropped in a small piece of flared tubing into the neck of the can where the pipe fits on. This years pipe has a wider stinger lowering back pressure, so they were after more back pressure without replacing any of the pipe/can. They got 5 hp out of the tubing mod. This was all 91 octane trail safe and at an uncorrected 73 degrees. My guess is a can alone with no matching pipe that flows too good may not be all that great for numbers. We'll see.
