Can any of you 9R owners elaborate on the cooling system? How do they perform on trail?

No issues in my first 100 miles scratchers down and runs cooler than the Boost on the same trails, same days.

Thank you for your insight! One of the many things I love about my 2019 SKS 850 146 is that with my scratchers down I don't have to worry about overheating when hitting the trail for fuel and can hang with any trail sled out there for any amount of time, although it doesn't happen very often. Since I am not interested in the SKS 650, in my eyes the Khaos 9R is the only upgrade for me.

I rode about 7 miles on an icey trail and my 9R got hot. Had to pull over twice. The check engine light comes on at 170. Under normal trail conditions I would say the sled runs around 140 on the trail. It's definitely not made for family trail rides.

I fully understand as far as mountain sleds are concerned, on icy trails even scratchers wouldn't have helped in your scenario. My inquiry was basically referring to normal trail conditions.

That is very encouraging information for me! That's what my SKS runs with scratchers on normal trail conditions. I'm anxious for Polaris to reveal the 2024 mountain sled line up. Unless they come out with an SKS 9R 146, at this point my focus will be on a Khaos Matryx Slash 9R 146! I appreciate your input.

The 9r 146 slash comes with a bigger heat exchanger than the 155 so that sled should stay a little bit cooler on the trail. My 9r doesn’t seem to run any hotter than the 850.

155 slash 9r runs cooler than my buddy's 22 boost. They both still suck on icy trails. Going to try shorter scratchers or the ones with flipper that everyone brags about.

Keep an eye on your stock scratchers. As they wear a bit they start to bend some and the tip begins to run closer to the track. Running temps will go up. Stop and give them a good flex outward so the tip of the scratcher is 3 or 4 inches out to the side of the track when moving. That will drop your temps substantially.

Thought about that since stock ones throw it behind the heat exchangers. Everyone keeps bragging up ice storm or something if that sounds right.
They work good for me, i ran them on a short tunnel 162 3” for years and all last year on my 2022. I just clamped the little bracket into the rail but when it packs full of snow the scratcher rubs the paint. Id suggest building a bracket and spacing it out 1/2-1”.

Speaking on how to turn my 155 Matryx Slash 9R Pro into an awesome trail machine, does anyone know where I can get a set of Boggers for my Lamborghini? ?

Why do people buy a sled that is the farthest thing for the trails and then try to make it into a trail sled???

The 9R runs hot on hard pack icy trail or slow single track. Needs a real flap for some conditions for sure.
