calling all badasses!

I give you praise for trying to do something positive in your life and if it is something you really like doing the money will follow, I am not a BA rider but if you need help I will be willing to help you if time allows. Can't believe all the people giving this guy such a hard time for doing something positve, no wonder the we live in a world where people hate each other and don't give a dam about each other and thier property. It could be worse he could be out stealing someones "trailer" or "sled" or running dope. Maybe I am wrong maybe the next kid that ask's me for help with a math problem I should just lay into him for being stupid and not understanding and not have the credentials to try that problem.

Just a thought AKSNOPRO. Rather than soliciting Ak riders without any prof of you camera skill why not take the time to edit a small trailer, post up again stating your intentions and be proactive. There is a LARGE number of excellent back country free riders, boondockers and hillclimbers that post pictures all winter here in the Ak section of Snowest. PM some of the talent and humbly approach them about riding for a day and filming. Trust me, there are some guys on here that can ride.

You might be pleasantly surprised. I can guarantee that you will see some great riding talent and experience new terrain like, will, you know, Upper Huffman. Or have you seen it all?

Sincerely, old skool five oh. :face-icon-small-hap

i dont doubt there is a lot of talent in alaska, i was expecting more positive responses with interest my goal by no means was to boast myself, that all came when people started talking trash, lol. few people PMed me cant wait to get out and ride with them and do some more shooting! my initial post and topic were trying to get people that were good riders to pm or email me! And for anyone that has a "big timer film company offering to film them" go get filmed by them and grats on being at a level i would love to be at. but if your not as fortunate as that guy then come ride and see if we cant shoot some sick pow lines or launching!

ill post another topic when the webpage is up and you probably wont see a trailer till im really confident with it being a solid base for the whole movie! and will probably have the new sled in it rather then my 08 m.. sorry my request for riders comes with no movies!

were getting my buddies Turbo M7 out for the first time this weekend cant wait to hold on to that thing!

This thread could have gone differently if it was presented in a more inviting manner. I'm not doubting AKsnopro's abilities as a rider, as a filmmaker, or his entrepreneur abilities. However, this lack of doubt doesn't mean he automatically deserves credibility for his claims. He is essentially asking for proof of riding abilities and that the rider have a current sled and appear presentable for his film, which is perfectly fine. So whats wrong with people asking questions and trying to establish some level of credibility and repertoire for him? Nothing. His initial post was the only thing we could use to establish some sort of ethos for him and his organization. Unfortunately for him, his initial post didn't give off a very professional feel.

To compare this thread with running dope and a child asking for help with math is just as problematic as this guys approach. This isn't a child asking for help with math, this is an adult asking you to invest your free time and money (your sled, gear, gas) in his abilities as an entrepreneur and filmmaker on a loose promise of potential money and sponsorship.

This is the perfect place for such solicitation, and truthfully, i bet just about everyone who posted or viewed this thread hope this guy puts together a decent film that represents us Alaskans well.

To Aktoad: I can appreciate you sticking up for this guy after all the comments that were made, but he seems to have a pretty good sense of humor, and i don't think anyone on here had any intentions of severely offending him. Plus, its the nature of riders to mess with each other. Infact, your spell checker doesn't work either. Also, apostrophe "s" ('s) is intended to show possession. Additionally, I'm not sure what that sentence in blue is supposed to mean.

To AKsnopro: I wish you luck in your film-making endeavors. My advice to you is post on here more often and provide some sort of samples to help yourself develop some credibility. Maybe consider consulting a PR specialist or publicist to properly convey the message you are attempting to send (i know that is a little far fetched, but perhaps try to approach things a little more professionally/diplomatic).

See you all on the mountain... or Chair Five. :beer;:beer;:beer;

its teh hitman... haha that was some funny stuff. or should I say "thad wuz sum funnie sduff"

This thread is reminiscent of one from last year. I am sure everyone remembers back when a couple of idiots were poaching dirt and "The Hit-man" was on patrol? I am out on the film. From the looks of things there is a good chance my name would get misspelled in the credits.

This is just a suggestion and not meant as a bash towards any particular riding style. It sounds to me like you want to make another Turnagain Hardcore type film, which might sell up here but my guess is that sales in the ower 48 will be minimal. I've got a few of those films myself but I much prefer the movies that have a wide variety of riding. Boondocking, hill climbing, ditch banging, carving through endless powder and funny sh!t that happens along the way. It would be cool also to have the name of the area your riders are at listed in each sequence, would give it a more personal feel IMO. But more than anything else, make this a film about Alaskans and not bringing riders up from the lower 48 and showcasing their skills. Make this a movie about Alaska and show the world what we have up here.

yeah

yeah, in the snowmachine world if you dont have a sense of humor you will get crushed!!! Thanks for the advise. we are definatly more mountain boondockers then we are anything else, shortest track in our crew is a 141 M.

what went wrong with this thread? ill tell yeah, i think my first post was okay, where it went wrong was in the first reply the cockyness of the guys post set me off, and my mistake was skooping to that level and replying to a guy that isnt even going to be in the video nor would i want to work with someone with such a piss poor non laid back attitude. i should have set the cockynes and rudeness of his post aside and just replyed with a constructional post.

if he woulda said sounds cool but i need more info before we headout. or PM'ed me or Emailed me like the origional post had requested. i wasnt looking to make this a thread with a bunch of replys!

and lets face it guys, if your anything like me your going to spend your hard earned money every weekend anyway and lots of us wont be getting filmed doing so.... i figured more people would like to get what they do on video. if your already filming videos i didnt expect you would be interested!

-Andy

Another idea you might consider, offer to film other rides for people for a reasonable price. I know lots of people would love to see themselves on video, even if they aren't the best riders in Alaska. Might help offset the cost of buying your video equipment.

You guys are funny, thanks for the laugh this morning!

Personally, lets see the teaser you have to put together and let us be the judge.

Also, it isn't like we haven't put together videos and posted up pictures or our riding skills for the last several years on here...since you have been a member for over a year you should know who a lot of the "badass" riders are already or ridden with them....shouldn't you?

If you have been riding in AK for a while, you should know a lot of us on here already.

Good luck and lets see some footage, work on that rather then posting replies on here all day.

i reply at work from my iphone, unfortunatly my iphone isnt capable of rendering avchd or i would be all over it. Im a electrical maintenance guy at the VA hospital on base :) just waiting for a light to go out!!

So now it appears that you have to impress these awesome riders with your camera skills before they will let you film them. I'd just close the thread and find some riders out in the field and go from there.

agreed

agreed, and i wasnt unsuccessfull at getting pms, got several people that want to go ride so not everyone is soo good they have to have videos to prove worthyness to go ride with someone! lol
