c.o. snow conditions

Since we're ranting...How 'bout our "shared" access trails. These cross-country granola's can use our trails every day and never even so much as make tracks on trails designated for them only. Seems like they like to take advantage of the plows and the tracks of sleds. Yet, if we are caught on a F---ing blue trail, we get fined. How about the area closures of 2 years ago? That was an area that I never even saw skiers at all. This granola movement is militant and needs to be stopped. Our clubs and riders need to get more vocal! It is time that we start winning some of these liberal battles. As was mentioned in an earlier post, these tools can use any snow park and any trail in any part of the Cascades. We cannot.

I would have to agree. It is time for a line in the sand. These tree huggin homo's have the whole wilderness they never even touch. Almost no one goes out there but they want to take our little bit we have left, which is so small it is such a joke. I think it is time to get all snomobile buddies to join moon country and the OSSA. I think I will make a bunch of copies of applications and start handing them out at sno parks on weekends. Also go around to local shops and start waking some people up around here. It is also so lame to see all of those neon closure signs bolted to the trees everywhere. Also the only time I talk to the cops around here is on snowmobile atv or in my boat what a friggin joke. WAKE UP PEOPLE!

I've met several members, but never joined. Shame on me! I think membership initiation is only $30 bucks. I think it's high time for all of us to band together not only to fight the granola's but for assosciation and education.

I spend much of my life fighting the FAA. The Forest Service is much the same. They do not hear the individual, they hear the noisiest group. As long as a valid case is presented, they have no option but to listen. It's not like we are asking to do anything illegal. Just remember, as soon as it is written into law, it becomes illegal to do what was once OK. It is almost impossible to un-do the law once it is written.

Alright guys lets get this thing going I know at least 20 sledders I can get to join. We need a plan of attack I am tired of seeing my local area dwindling away. My ankle is broke so I will have time to work on this, once I am able to get around again. So I guess I will join this week. Then work on my buds, then I am going to the shops they have alot to lose. They need a stack of applications and maybe a flier or two explaining the benefits of the club. LET'S GET MOVIN PEOPLE OUR WAY OF LIFE IS AT STAKE. These are also the same people who want to close offthe woods to all vehicles. So get everyone you know on this. Also any meetings you here coming up get everyone to go. Thanx JB

One more bit of advice....

Make sure your involved with SAWS, keep in touch with them and the Blue Ribbon Coalition. These guy's have been to battle many times, know the in's and out's. One person should be your point man and one only....To many cooks in the kitchen if you know what I mean. Your point person needs to mind his p's and q's, look at it from a white collar perspective. Attacking from the blue collar perspective won't work, unfortunatly...You gotta keep your cool, speak the language and be articulate....Trust me, I've been to a lot of meetings and from our group, which is mostly blue collar, all you hear is F@#k this and F*&K that and non stop cussing....It doesn't work. It's like getting one strike right off the bat. Present your arguments, keep your cool, challenge them to show you the evidence the other side is claiming...There is strength in numbers....WORK TOGETHER....
Gotta go..Revelstoke is calling...

Your right, there is strength in numbers. I personally am a member of Moon Country but there are several clubs in the area. Its time we all band together and get this settled once and for all. Join, Join, Join. Its only $40 a year for the club dues and OSSA together. Money well spent. Bring everybody you know. If our children and grandchildren have any hope of enjoying the sport we love then its up to us to step up and make a difference. SAWS costs nothing and its numbers thier after. Central Oregon is getting over run by conservitive A$$h&!es that want it all, and they are taking it right out from under our noses. STEP UP everyone. 541-410-4219. Lets pile memberships on the clubs and make a BIG STATEMENT.

Here are a the SAWS Action Alerts that went out on the Dutchman Flats subject. The first went out in April of 2005 and the second went out in February of 2006. These show the importance of being involved in land use issues.

2nd Annual Dutchman Summit

Dutchman Flat Environmental Assessment

Join SAWS and you will receive these action alerts when they are sent out to or members.

Snowmobiler, you beat me too it. I was just getting ready to post the same link.

Are you riding tomorrow?

We will be riding tomorrow, not sure where yet. Either going to Paulina or out of Edison or Wanoga. Not in too big of a hurry to get up there so it won't be Dutchman.

Rode Paulina today, not bad conditions. There was about 2 foot of fluff up on top, and not too many people. Could use a bit more snow, but who's complaining. Depending on the motivation in the morning, talking about riding out of Edison.

Ahhhhhhh, made fresh tracks up Kwolh Butte. The bowl was pristine and trackless. That is, until we got there. I think I'm still smiling. What a present for the 1st of January. Giddy up.
