Buff pass video

Nice! It's those days I wish I had a turbo on the M:) When was that? We hit the most incredible powder day I ever saw at the Ear's on Jan. 12 last season.

Yep, it was pretty good!

RE pow pow

funny RE is always good, huh? bushy says best day last year was jan 12,
you say feb 2, and many others say april 1-2-3.

DJ, were those on the 1st? that over the handlebars, friday? April fool day 08?

regardless, after one day struggling thru shoulder deep pow at RE will make anyone reconsider... their sled setup..........over & over...............:beer;

Yeah 2-2 was a good day too (see pics), but 1-12 was incomparable to anything I've ridden up there. Literally 4 feet of goose-down pow just south of highway 40. Guy showed up with an M8 turbo and that thing blew over a little hill we were banging on for 10 minutes. I wanted a turbo on my sled that day:rolleyes:

Nice pics Paul. :p

Yep, 2-2 was great just because it was sunny but that weekend in January was crazy suffocating deep pow......
Funny, in the meadow just south of the Dumont Lake lot you could hear the turbo's all day long but you couldn't see them for the most part...

12/30/2007 - RE Pass

One of those days where we shouldn't have been out in it. Zero visibility, i mean zero, not 5feet, not 10 feet, zero...super deep and soft, survival riding conditions. the MC lot was not plowed, so we had to park on the pull off a little further down the road on 40. We almost got lost trying to find the parking lot on the way back even through we knew it was 100 feet in front of us. They stop staking that little bit back to to 40 but on this day, it was zero visibility.

It was one of those, thank god there are stake days or we would be so f'd. We kept pulling them up because some only had 1-2 feet exposed it was hammerin so hard.

I will never forget, there were some boys from Iowa sitting in their truck, scared out of their minds, to afraid to even leave. We came in from the storm and they were like "WTF". I had 40 feet of truck and trailer and it was rocking us back and forth inside the wind was blowing so hard. You couldnt see 40 from the pull off, seriously, we had to wait for a break in the wind to pull out.

We just got off RE pass b4 it closed, i mean, if something stopped in your lane, you were going to hit it because you couldnt see far enough ahead to stop. Nothing like "feeling" the shoulder of the road and bouncing off the snowbanks to keep her between the ditches. I felt bad for the CSPatrol because cars were all over the ditched between Kremling and the pass and i would not have wanted to be out there helping, it just wasnt safe.

When we got to Kremling, they weren't letting anyone out of town. Took 40 to WP and drove right by the "Bethoud Pass Closed sign" before they could get a plow truck and the gates down.

Drove off 2 closed passes, 5 hours from RE Pass to Black Hawk, normally 2hrs.

Good times, hope it happens again this year.....

Man that sled is buried good, or was it just that fluffy. lol I was up there and that brings back some memories, that was a dangerous day to be out (and I wasn't!). I rode out into the field a couple times, but that's it. Same day a couple SW'ers got stranded in a creek by Walton peak and S&R fished them out about 10 pm. I was in MC lot for 4 days that week. Friday was a beatiful bluebird day with 16" of sweet pow, but the lenticular clouds forecast the storm brewing to the west.

But Saturday was starting to get ugly. Name that rider!

Sunday was a good day to rest up, drink beer, and watch football. One of those blizzard days where you don't get a half mile from the road and that's too far for comfort! Hung out with the "neighbors" at MC lot and watched it blow and worried for standed sledders.

Monday, the wind let down enough and got in a short ride before frozen gas put me on the rope....again. The second of many....many tow outs to come last year. Incredible snow year, bad year for scorchin pistons, eating rings and bustin steering columns (6 and 2 or something ridiculous. I lost count) :rolleyes: Let's hope for another year like last year...snow-wise anyway:beer;:beer;
