Bucking rodeo at Baker

You are off base and should stand corrected. Maybe the first poster should help increase the budget for next year. If I had the grooming contract I would quit the day I ran out of money. I am pretty sure that our groomer isn't turning a profit with his machine.

I would like to say thay staying in shape is personal decision. I do ab and lower back excercises 2-3 times a week. For some reason when I go riding I do get sore from riding on the trail..............go figure. And I'm 20, 0r 30 anymore.

JStrows...

I'm ok with being off base and stand corrected... :) but for WHAT PART..?!?!?.. What does that mean..??.. please elaborate if you have information about grooming/plowing...

or is this an useless exercise in mental telepathy like trying to figure out the grooming/plowing schedule, etc..??..

As for the second half of your post... I'm a fat a$$... I stay in shape... round is a shape..!!.. :D but that doesn't mean that we(anybody) like to ride on 20" whoops...

and if riding on the trail makes you sore... don't do it... ride the ditch... leave the trail for us that don't exercise 2-3 times a week... we pay for & have the same rights as the next person...

and I don't get the whole 'age' thing.. "And I'm 20, 0r 30 anymore." ... not sure what that means... sorry...

The thing people dont understand is the fact that Mt. Baker is not the groomers only area to groom.. He has 4 areas to groom on one of the smaller budgets per the miles he has to maintain. You people astonish me you come out of the wood work in the later part of the season when the money is gone and start b!tching... Try going to the state meeting and asking them why we are so under funded, when we are one of the most popular areas in our state.

One last thing you need to understand, you speak about the groomer like he is a bad guy trying to cheat you on grooming.. He happens to be a rider and i am sure he would love to have a bigger budget to keep the trails smooth.

I do not think that the groomer is a 'bad guy'... he has a job just like I do...

He should not work(groom) if he's not gonna get paid for it...

It's the organization of all this that needs revamped...

Redoing how and where the funds are used will do nothing. THERE JUST IS NOT ENOUGH MONEY.

Sled tabs need to be at least doubled to have enough to groom all season.I for one would gladly pay that.

One thing that happend at Baker this year to use up money fast was the freak snowstorm that pretty much closed the parking lot down.ALOT of TIME was spent to get it reopened and useable for everyone.

Your only half correct.. Yes there is a lack of money! But if you look at the break down and allocation of funds there are over funded areas.. Areas that can groom there whole season.. Why cant it de spread evenly?? Baker is under funded for being the most popular riding area in washington..

Yeah the parking lot took alot to get opened but that was done by donations.. So the groomer didnt have to spend a day plowing.

I will agree that if there are areas that have less riders then money should be shifted to other places.

I do doubt baker has the most riders in a weekend though.Look at stampeed parking lot on a sat. It's twice as big as bakers and allways full all weekend.

But I don't have numbers to back that up so I am just guessing.

No matter what more money is needed to get this to where everybody wants...........

I do not know for sure, but I bet that GROOMING and PLOWING access to the various Snowparks are two DIFFERENT budgets/people..??..

I don't buy the whole 'freak snow storm' line...

This is Washington State... the Northwest... the Mountains... we get snow storms here..!!.. PLAN FOR IT... we do..!!..

You can't tell me that the storm we had this year was 1)unexpected 2)the worst ever 3)more snow than we're able to deal with...

At my job, if I had a surprise work-load, and could not adapt/improvise/overcome... you can bet my company would be looking for someone who could handle it..!!..

I guess it's because it's the Government..??.. ya right... someone is responsible for making decisions...

It seems like there's only a few here who really give a $%&!!...

most just like to say "go to a meeting" or you people always yayayayayaya...

oh well...:(

DUDE!!!!!!!!

The grooming and plowing IS seprate.

If you would have gone up there the day after the storm(like I did to see the conditions firsthand) you would have seen the reason it screwed up the groomers budget. There was a HUGE washout right above the entrance to lake tyee.It was over 10 ft deep across the road for 1/4 mile. The state had to focus on getting that mess cleaned up and therefore didn't plow the road to the snowpark.

The groomer and the club took it upon themselves to get it opened back up.That took TIME AND MONEY NORMALLY USED FOR GROOMING.We should all be thankful we even got to use the snowpark at all this year.If we had to rely on the state to get it all cleaned up and cleared out after the mess that happend it prob would have just been closed for the year.Big thanks to the glacier cruisers and the groomer for all the hard work.

The state just finished up clearing the debris off the road last week,it was something they were NEVER faced with before.

The huge mudslide WAS something that never happend before.

Ok... I stand corrected... thanks...

I understand that the 'flooding' after the snow storm was unusual...

Too bad that the repair took 'grooming' money/time...:(

I wonder where a guy could find out the actual numbers of costs of things that effect us all... grooming, plowing, snow removal, road repair, etc...??..

I know this will never happen, but if people would ride the road up slow and easy the trail would not get 20" whoops. enough of that fantasy. If you want to ride Baker and your from out of the area and want to complain. Easy solution send funds to. Northwest Glacier Cruisers PO Box 80 Burlington, WA 98233

Looks like he is done grooming since he is out of money. He made a personal coice last year to groom after he was officiallly out of money. We shoud all consider that running a groomer is like running an airplane. Fuel and maintaining costs go together. When you get short on funds you can fudge the maintenance portion if your plane is in good shape. But you can't do it often and hope to stay in the sky.
The system is a joke and is so black and white it leaves the operator to make no judgement calls on the little ridden areas that must be groomer per contract.

i actually exercise more than 3 days a week. Round is a shape and a six pack is a way of life.....
