Bucking rodeo at Baker

I want to thank the groomer for doing an absolutely wonderful job with the grooming today. It was almost like you were never even there. With 20" stutter bumps for 10 miles each way, that made my day. Thanks.

There was a thread about this I think.Sounds like the grooming is over at baker for the year.Out of money.:(

How was the snow up on the hill? Headed there at o dark thirty in the morning.

We came off the mountain a little after 4:00 avoided much of the road ride by winding down through the trees below Schriebers to Blue lake road at the dam,as we were about 500 yards from the sno park and the groomer was just starting up the road. Should've stayed on the mountain for another hour, but had to go.

Before you dog someone, maybe you should know what your talking about, you are right it was like he wasn't there, because he wasn't, just voluteered his time friday night for the club playday, grooming is done, no more budget.

On top of that!

The groomer guy's group came accross us yesterday on his sled, and offered to bring down my wounded Hawk with the groomer when he came back.

Beat him to it and was towed by a Twoski for all you others to see!;)

its all good..

It made for some good moto practice.. showed me just how much out of shape
I really am...if you want to play.. ya got to pay...

Dude your a tool... Bit*hing about the groomer is not cool... Try getting involved and helping us fight for more money...

Why are you OK with the "lack of funds" excuse?

Most grooming takes place the first or second week of December. If it is done on a Thursday and Saturday night, that is 8 times per month for 4 months for a grand total of 32 grooming runs.

At 20 miles of grooming at Baker, that could be about a total of 640 miles.

If you look at some trail grooming stats in other states, there are some major trail runs that are 58 to 74 miles round trip.

Why are you all getting mad at me for complaining about something I PAID FOR?

I am not asking or demanding the trails be groomed 24 hours per day, everyday, but MOST snowmobiling happens Saturday and Sunday.

There are not any more weekend days added to the calendar, can't you just look at it, and figure out how many times you need to groom, and have us pay?

If the groomer just could stand out at the foot of the trail with hands out, that would work for me. I would pay for me AND the next guy. Washington is the only state that doesn't use funds appropriated for trail grooming.

PLEASE just tell everyone at the snow show in October, that we need XXXX amount of dollars to make XXXX amount of grooming runs. There SHOULD be a minimum amount of money it takes to run the groomers 8 times per month for 4 months. If there is NOT enough money, let us know BEFORE the GDAMN season starts. It piszes me off that I see so many people spend $10500 for sled, 2000 for clothes and beacon, $34000 for the truck, $6000 for a trailer, BUT YOU CAN'T or WON'T SHELL OUT $100 OR $200 A SEASON FOR TRAIL GROOMING AND SNOWPARK MAINTENANCE.

Cheap skates.....................

Lack of Funds???

Get involved!!!!, Show up at a meeting or two. It will open your eyes... it not a new thing , lack of funds has been talked about for years and it is only getting worse...

These is a State wide problem guys all area are in trouble with funding. We need to go after the gas tax & raise lic. I now there some people think we can stretch the money further but it`s at it macs now & the money is account for. What are you going to due win they start closing down your favorite sno parks. And you may find your self have more friends in the snow parks that are left open it may not be as fun because the snow is all tracked up more.:face-icon-small-sad

I gotta agree with Snowinthetoes...

It seems like VERY simple math to me...

easy to calculate how many times you groom how far...

maybe I'm missing something..??..

PLUS... if the access to the snowpark is blocked/closed/washed-out... then don't GROOM there... save the grooming trip for later, when/if the access is open again...

I believe that the groomers get PAID when they turn in mileage... that seems wrong... the more often they groom, the more they get paid...

I have seen trails this year that were groomed 4 times in one week, and I've seen trails that were groomed from/to a closed snowpark... that seems like a lack of interest in the QUALITY/longevity of our sport, and a push to get all the hours used up for the season so they can get paid, and stop grooming..!?!?!?..

PLUS... there needs to be some allowance/system for years where there is less grooming possible, and carry it over to years where there is MORE grooming possible...

I'm just an old fart that likes a smooth trail for the first and last few miles... the 'heavily used' part of the trails, when we all get up high, we branch off anyway and go play... I think that we need a system that will allow plowing/access and grooming as long as there is snow on the ground... not by a date or 'funds running out'...

We're all about riding as much as we can, aren't we..??.. I/we would gladly pay for access/grooming where I/we ride... maybe per trip..??..

I don't know exactly what all the answers are, but it seems that the 'system' needs a fix....

time to get off the soapbox...

If I'm off base here, please correct me...

You are off base and should stand corrected. Maybe the first poster should help increase the budget for next year. If I had the grooming contract I would quit the day I ran out of money. I am pretty sure that our groomer isn't turning a profit with his machine.

I would like to say thay staying in shape is personal decision. I do ab and lower back excercises 2-3 times a week. For some reason when I go riding I do get sore from riding on the trail..............go figure. And I'm 20, 0r 30 anymore.

Grooming and payment via PAYPAL

Get involved!!!!, Show up at a meeting or two. It will open your eyes... it not a new thing , lack of funds has been talked about for years and it is only getting worse...

I think the groomers should set up there own PAYPAL accounts. Then, if we get a new dumping of snow on a Wed, or Thurs, they could open up the account for funds deposit.

I would make a payment, as would many, a night or two before a Friday morning grooming run.

JUST TELL ME HOW MUCH IT IS PER MILE, OR HOW MUCH IT IS PER DAY, WHATEVER.

We don't have to go to any meetings, just cut out everybody that doesn't want to pay. IF the groomer got 6 people to deposit PAYPAL funds in the amount of $50 each, that's $300. IS that enough for a 20-mile grooming run at Baker? I DON'T KNOW. Let's say it is NOT enough for a 20-mile grooming run, well, couldn't you just groom HALF WAY UP? None of this makes any sense.

1 mile of groomed road is better than 0 miles of groomed road.
