Broken chain TApex - solutions? 15 wide?

Broke my chain and case on my 06 TApex today the sled only has 1300 miles on it and Turbo was installed at 850 miles.

At the time it broke I was coasting down a gentle slope at about 10 mph.

Big round washer was sitting on my belly pan? Not sure exactly what happened, especially since the washer is held on by a bolt I believe.

We have not torn into it yet.

Can you put a stronger 15 wide chain on the Apex without changing to wider gears?

Any solutions? Do not want this to happen again.

Thanks

The bottom gear bolt head sheared off. It has happened to me and others. I put a grade 8 bolt back in and was careful to torque it to spec and cross my fingers, but 500 miles no problems.

Bolt sheared on mine also. Wasn't a chain problem.

Mine was non reverse.

Why would the bolt have much pressure on it? Does'nt it just hold the gear onto the spline?

I think my chain was a little tight and I think my track was a little tight too, but I am not understanding why there would be much pressure on the bold that holds the gear on the drive line.

Are people thinking that the bolt is simply vibrating out some and then the gear is coming off the spline and then shearing the bolt?

My 2006 Apex's chain case blew up last Saturday. Stock Apex with 1400 miles. Only doing about 15 mph.

The bolt holding on the lower gear just popped off and got wedged between the spinning lower gear and chain. Broke innner and outer case plus the chain.

I noticed when ordering replacement parts the bolt that broke has a revised part number. Either a bad bolt or it was over torque at the factory.

I believe they were overtourqued from the factory which will stretch the bolt and make it week. No facts behind this but I am not sure of any other explanation. Some will say it could be heat from where the BD kit mounts. There is already heat in there from friction so I am not convinced this is ths case. Either way its 600- 800 bones.
