2012 Blown Engine (Pics and Video)

Those Chinese make some of the most sophisticated electronics this day and age...not everything from overseas is "cheap" "crap";)

Just saying...

^ LoL

I can see this thread has went to the crapper. Thanks to all those who had good insight on this thread. Hopefully there will be some good snow left when I get her back. Looking forward to breaking a new engine in. Its almost like getting a whole new sled again :face-icon-small-hap

Well if it helps my local dealer has had as many as 16 2013 800's in the shop at one time with blown motors! So, Ya 2013 not fixed yet. Go see the competition if you like to ride your sled.

Well i'd sure avoid that dealer, sounds like he's never finished a job in the last 5 or 6 years. Those first guys must be pissed i bet eh.
Some of you guys have great stories, bull****, but great'

By the way , which model and year of Doo do you have ? LOL.

I have to say that Beastie really is out of line. Polaris is at fault. Period! You were probably defending them back in the Confusion days to since teh riders should have known that the engine vibrated so badly that it caused belt issues and then issues with the cranks. Its the riders responsibilities to fix these issues after shelling out $10K! i learned my lesson and swithced to Yamaha and have not a single problem with over 15K miles now and neither have any of my 5 buddys that also ride yamaha. It is teh manufactors problems that their engines are having issues with less than 1000 miles. If you think any differently you're a fool!

Same Polaris different year.

I snow checked one of the 2000 rmk 800's and got the same response about my crank problem. It seems I was chastised for my clutch not being clean enough, or a myriad of other owner caused reasons as why the crank bearing would go bad. I had 1800 miles on it when it let go. No doubt about it I had the sled dialed in and up till the engine problems it was one hell of a sled.

I got it fixed and after much wailing and gnashing of teeth Polaris covered parts but not labor. It was still under warranty when it went down. How many Polaris 800s do you know of that had crank bearing/case problems?

People on this forum put me down just like dizzy is doing. "It's a cutting edge hi per motor. What do you expect?" Blah blah.

I expect after dropping well over 10k on a "production" snowmobile it will at least last more than one season. Are you telling me I have to check the compression every time I start my sled if I want to ride a Polaris Pro 800? This is a production machine. Not a hand built one off racer.

We as consumers should demand more.

And yeah thanks for posting your problems, I would hope that Polaris, cat and doo are reading these.

Man what a troll!! Not everyone wants to spend 13 grand then spend the whole season wrenching on there sled... Buy it ride it, when it breaks sell it buy a new one. Our season is to short;)

If you think any differently you're a fool!

Someone sounds a little bitter because of a past experience wow..

All I'm asking is for people to be a little realistic here. The reason your Yamaha motor hasn't broken is because the thing doesn't make any POWER! lol! Have Yamaha mass produce a two cylinder, 2 stroke motor making at least 145 hp or more and see if you keep your reliability guy.

You're comparing apples to oranges here.

I would say less than 10% of the 2013 engines have had problems and this forum makes it sound like it's closer to 70% as people like to make false claims(such as the one above) just to simply join the discussion. That or the members of this forum think that EVERYONE who rides snowmobiles is a member on this forum. Get real here. We are a minute amount of consumers in a world-wide industry. I am not claiming that Jones is one of them at all, I am just wondering if it could have been prevented is all. It's not like I broke into his house, kicked his dog and stole a box full of ballpoints. Jeez...

And all the people that have given me "bad" reviews for my posts are WAY too sensitive. It's almost comical really...lets see how many you guys can get me up to! lol!!!

Did they fix it? Polaris that is.

What did they do with the old motor? I'll pay the shipping to here and scrap price for your trouble... anything is repairable... If it is metal, I will rebuild it!! I need a new project. project weld up case and make new again!!!

His motor blew up and his riding time is gone. There sure is alot of lemon Pros out there. Yup I have one too, but you what when it does run it rocks.

im thinking it might be a hillbilly family bashing jones and his broken sled?
pa,ma,jethro and elly may(slick). LOL.

Ok that one made me laugh. Thanks! Besides I think Dizzle is the only one bashing me and he doesn't even own a sled...

Well I told the dealer I wanted the old motor but it sounds like they ship the old back in the crate the new one comes in. But he wasn't real sure on that. It'd be a cool summer project.

Yamaha did, its called a VMAX 4 and it produced over 150HP. I still have a 96 800 and a 93 750. Neither one of them has had an issue with its engine. And anytime you want to run your 2 stroke against my turbo 4 just name the time. Besides, what good did all that so called power do Snowmobiler when his engine was blown in Gods country. For all of you fools that are too proud to leave your 2 strokes get a grip. I've got $13000K into my sled that has well over 200hp and will last me well over 5 years at which time I will be able to sell for half of that and buy another. What the hell is your 2 stroke going to be worth wtih 10k miles? If teh power of a 2 stroke is your argument then your way off the topic. The topic of discussion is the reliability of a brand new engine and for me I would feel much more comfortable in BFE on my 4.

Chinese made parts in Polaris . Poor quality sure sounds like it,, They get worse every Year.

Put your POO engine parts next to an ETEC. You will see the same markings on the pistons and jugs. So either Rotax buys Chinese junk too, or POO gets parts from the same factories in Europe that Rotax does.

Go spend $500 on the fix kit instead of a wrap and stop moaning in every thread on Snowest. Simple fix then go ride and enjoy your sled. How much easier can it get? If you cant afford to put an extra $500 into a 10,000 sled you should give up sledding.

LOL! Hey - stupid - those were a 4 cylinder! Go back and read what I originally posted.

It's no secret that the Yamaha wins in the reliability department. But thats the only thing it excels in. Why do people say "the big three" and not 4? When the magazines do their reviews for best mountain sled, 90% of the time they don't even include the Yamaha. Why? And the last part of my debate, and something that Yamaha has ALWAYS had, is weight. You get that thing buried and you're by yourself....good luck.

I, for one, am actually excited about the Yami/Cat merger because I think it will give us a broader selection of sleds to choose from and thats always a good thing for the consumer. I might be the only person that feels this way though. If they can somehow mix Cat's 2 stroke power with Yami's fit and finish, I think it has the potential to come out on top. But I'm afraid they are gonna throw that fat-*** heavy 4 stroke in everything and then we'll be stuck with Ski Doo or Polaris.

I think Dizzle is the only one bashing me and he doesn't even own a sled...

Not sure what me not currently owning a sled has anything to do with anything, but I have mentioned a few times in here...

I am not claiming that Jones is one of them at all

what he said

its obvious they have a longevity/durability issues...

either buy the fix that one of these companies provide or get a 4 year warranty and sell it after two.

chances of poo fixing motor are like snowmobiler saying something positive about anything other than a doo!!

(btw, i think snowmobiler comments are pure gold!!!!)
