British Columbia

Hey Guys,
Looking at doing a BC trip. Anyone do one? Im flying out of Ohio. Looking to rent sleds. Im guessing Vancouver is the place to fly into. I've been doing some research and looking at places. We are experienced riders so we are just looking for lodging and rentals.
Thanks, Matt

If you are going to sled the whistler/pemberton area that would work. If you are going to sled Revelstoke/Sicamous area another option would be Calgary and then Kelowna. From there you would drive, less than an hour to Sicamous, another 45 min. To Revy. Just depends on best price and connection options.
Hope you have a great trip.

Rentals and accomodations would be the priority to me, honestly there are so many places to ride in BC that are truly world class you can't really go wrong anywhere. Whistler or pemberton would be hard to beat. If you just want stupid deep snow look into stewart. You might want to think this trip thing through a little more, it's going to ruin sledding for you.

Jay, can you give me more details on Stewart? I find information very difficult to find about this place. I've been wanting to go up there for a few years!

Usually details are bit fuzzy. Used to be a guy, can't remember his name, that ran a lodge up there. He made the Roops of Hazzard movies but moved back to Pemberton a few years ago. I think there is a small club there. Granduc mine is the riding area I always hear about. Apparently you can call one of the gas stations for snow reports.

I've seen that site, thanks. It doesn't seem to get updated and the forum is on life support!

was in whistler last week ,, it was absolutely lousy with mountain bikers ,, all suited up in armor ect

this all reminds me of a news story i just heard.. some national park,, Yosemite? wants to limit the amount of visitors cause they are doing damage ect to the wildlife ,, impact or whatever ..

they said ,, 99 % of the visitors only use .01% of the park ,, numbers are improvised by me here to illustrate

kind of like how 90 + % of the sledders only goto places from videos or web forums ,, representing . 0001%(back pocket value) of available awesome sledding terrain across all of the us and Canadian Rockies and beyond.

which is great for the locals and those who dare.. leaving them flush with untracked pow,, but i need folks to ride with and most will only do whats in sled head vids :P

So... Stewart is too busy for you, or you only know your way around Boulder?

You need to share what you're putting in the tea so we can understand the post:)

What do you need to know about Stewart? I'll try to find answers for you. You don't want to come to Smithers, it sucks, little hills, no snow, definately no all night partys in any of our cabins. :face-icon-small-win

If you plan it right it'll be a trip you'll never forget.

I've been to Whistler (yes, fly into Vancouver- the drive up is beautiful) & Revy....both excellent.

I rode with Chris Brown 2 years ago in Whistler and it was THEE best riding of my life....made me want to move there....seriously. You may want to consider hiring him...he can get you rentals as well.

if you do have to go through Vancouver as part of your trip to your destination just forget that little part of your trip (close your eyes) and the rest will be the best trip of your life regardless of the end area you chose..

Don't forget Valemount either. Vinnie Clarke runs Alpine Country Rentals and if anyone has followed Jackson Hole Champions in the past, you know who he is.

Sicamous has Rene and Carl Kuster who are also amazing riders and close to Revy.

Whistler is all about Chris Brown and what that man can do on a sled. He's got some very well rounded bros that are always up for a ride and show you a thing or two.

As far as Stewart goes, Dave Craig is the man behind the old Roops videos, and he did own the lodge for awhile. Not sure who runs it or who is up there for guides.

Terrace, Chetwynd, Kootenays, etc etc....you simply cannot go wrong...

Literally throw a dart at the map and go. Is Kelowna a International Airport now? That would make so much more sense than flying into Calgary.
And only fly into Vancouver if you plan on hitting up Whistler/Pemby.

A favorite destination of mine is GoldBridge/Braelorne area. But I grew up in Kamloops and cut my teeth in the Shuswap valley(Sicamous, Revelstoke areas) You can do no wrong in any choice. Just be warned that this will not be the last trip you make out here.

Kelowna has been an international airport for quite a few years now.

Living here, I can attest to how awesome the riding is, but if it were me, I'd fly into Vancouver, head to Whistler and ride with Chris Brown or SnowRide Adventures.

Riding Sicamous or Hunters Range is great, but finding good snow can be hard sometimes. I haven't rode Revy but have heard the same complaints. If you are only here for a short time, I'd pay either of those two to show me some hidden gems in Whistler. I think you have a better chance of having a few epic days there.

Dave Craig, The Legend owned lodge in Stewart. Don't think Stewart is getting the snow it used to in the last couple years. I have new rentals here and can usually find ballsdeep pow. Cheers, Rene.

Dave is not in Stewart nor filming vids anymore from what he told me.

I think I heard Stewart Mountain Lodge (where Dave Craig was the proprietor) is now under different ownership that caters to NON-sledders. Don't know if that is good intel or not, but that's the story.
