break in oil?

i was under the impression that the sled was supposed to come with blue semi in the oil tank for break in? is this true? my 800 pro has gold in the tank, my buddys had gold in the tank and my buddy that has a switch back assault has blue in the tank? what gives? does it matter and if it does i guess i should be taking the gold out of my tank and running blue?

There will only be blue if the dealer siphoned out the gold and re-filled the tank, or added on top of the gold. They are all shipped with the synthetic in them. Add the semi-syn to the tank and call it good.

so dump out syn, dump in blue? why does the factory send them out with syn, if its supposed to be done with semi ? that makes no sense to me. who is reccommending that we use semi to break it in? the factory or dealers?

We wonder the same thing! It was suggested by the mfg after the dragon 800 motor update. Haven't see it recommended since, but the common belief is that the semi-syn is better for break in, and less likely to glaze a cylinder.

Ur manual reccomends semi syn in the tank for break in
Syn in the oil res is fine according to my dealer

I syphoned it out and filled w ipone
Also ran ipone in the tank pre mixed as well

Its my oil of choice, but oil favs are a beat to death topic
Choose ur poison

It is not Gold oil in the tank from the factory. It is the Blue semi-synthetic oil just without the dye to make it blue. You will be fine to just fill the tank up with Blue the rest of the way from the get go for break in. I let mine get down to about 1/4 full before I topped it off with gold oil.

so who can confirm that the oil is un-dy'd semi in the tank?

yup oil from factory is just blue without the die. Have comfirmed this with Polaris. Also if you smell the oil it smells nothing like VES. Just fill it up with blue and put some in the oil tank.
