Break in hrs/miles?

anyone here know how long before the ecu allows the motor to reach full rpm's? i'm at 3hrs and 50 miles but still only seeing 8050 for max rpms.

thanks for the replys. i just want to wait before i start messing with clutching until i have a real baseline. the sled rips as is but i don't want to leave any extra power on the table. i know it can do better than 8k.

What elevation do you ride? The reason I ask is because every one in my riding area is pulling 8250 rpm and up. We ride 5000 - 7000 foot elevation. Mine would pull 8550 consistently on the road at 3500 foot going to and from the parking lot, that is an all stock machine. 8000 rpm is to low, I would shoot for no less than 8200 rpm.

i was riding at 8-9k and clutched for about 10k. it'a all factory except for changing weights to 10-60's, which is what the local dealer runs for our area.

You will rev higher as you break in. It almost seems to come in stages. It doesn't matter what your clutching is now. It will come.

I was told 10-60 is for above 10000. If you have those in you should be revving higher.

Yes, I ride the high uintas mostly which averages 10k plus. For break in I kept it lower elevation just in case I had problems. The only issue I had was a small bog at 5850 on the trail if I left the throttle there for a couple seconds. I am coming off a dragon so I am used to varying the throttle with a lean condition at mid range. This one seemed to have resolved itself by the end of the ride.

I waited until I had my 18 hours break in time done to put an SLP pipe and can on. I normally ride 6 to 8 K in elevation. Always pulled 8250 stock, went up to 8450-8500 after break in with the pipe on. Went to Cooke City and with just the pipe on and the stock 64 gram weights I put in 1 gallon of race gas in with each 5 gallons of unleaded premium.. sled would pull 8350 to 8400 at 10,000 to 11,000 feet no problem, no other changes other than gas.

Did you notice a big difference with the pipe and can on? Also when doing the SLP Pipe/Can combo do you have to do any fuel remapping?

I am currently breaking in my 17. Only thing i have in it is Kurts clutch kit. I am gonna wait until 18 hours for the Kurts gear down.

Uh oh, start getting worried. Sounds like my 16 Axys - never did pull the RPM it is supposed to, from new to 2000km. I dropped to lower clutch weight and stiffer primary spring than recommended and still am down 300 RPM on all other Axys. I don't think there's a solution, I've tried damn near everything.

I run 4500-7k elevation. I put my slp pipe/can on at zero miles. Added 2 grams and have been ripping all yr. It kept gaining rpm up to 18 hrs then it leveled off. Turning 8450-8500 now.

Oil enrichment ends at 3 hrs. and fuel enrichment continues on until 18 hrs. I had no problem pulling 8250 with 10-62's at 9500' of elevation once break in mode ended.
