Brake problem on 2016 Axys models

My dealer told me that I needed to bring my 16 in before I ride it due to a recall of some sort. Apparently, it only is on certain sleds because several of my riding friends who also have the 16 Axys have not been asked to bring their sleds in for the recall. Does anyone know anything about this recall and what the issue with the brake is?

Interesting that you mention it has to do with the speedo calibration. A friends new axis has went to the same distance as mine but has about 30 miles less on the odometer. I wonder if this is the reason?

Better for resale! Leave it alone :face-icon-small-hap

I just got the call today from my dealer to bring it back in so should reflash the guages cause of speedometer issue as it won't read right

My brake assembly is being pulled and a new one is being sent to replace it. I have not rode the sled yet and I will not be riding it this weekend. I am disappointed but it is better that it is getting fixed rather than having to have it break while on the mountain. I appreciate my dealer and Polaris being proactive about this situation. They are the best. My nearly new 2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD Duramax/Allison is also down for the weekend with a transmission control module that failed and also had to be sent here from far away. I think it was someone's way of telling me to stay home this weekend! :face-icon-small-hap

My brakes were dragging a little. Melted a few things and wrecked rotor and calliper and stuff. Replaced a bunch of stuff including calliper and rotor. Still dragging. Looks like they are changing more stuff now. Hopefully I get it back soon

Also mountain horse shouldn't of changed the title because it is accurate. What gives him the right to modify other people's posts inaccurately.

I also wondered about the name change. This situation has nothing to do with speedometer issues. My sled is torn apart. I missed an epic weekend and I am not particularly happy. If there is a problem, Polaris needs to own it and get past it. My dealer was good. Polariis, not so much.

Yes I feel the same, waiting on mine too! Love the machine though. I am really thinking mountainhorse should change the name back as this is suppose to be an informative site!!!

They have to replace the whole cast piece on the exhaust side including the brake assembly. It requires a pretty extensive teardown. I am not sure what the problem is but my guess is that the there is an alignment issue where the bearing is and/or the cast piece is incorrectly sized.

The track, driveshaft, jackshaft and a whole bunch of other stuff has to come off to get at the faulty part(s). Fortunately, my dealer called me to let me know that they wanted to check it before I rode it. I suspect that it is endemic to a certain run (VIN) of sleds. It may not be a large number of sleds that have the problem. It has to be an expensive fix for Polaris (parts and labor).

Polaris knows that they have a problem. I hope, for their sake, that it is not too many units. I also wish that they would be more upfront about it. I called them to find out more about it and got the run around and no return call.

They owe me for a lost weekend of riding. I am 63 so every lost opportunity has a greater impact than if you are 30. My dealer (they are awesome) offered me a demo sled which was very nice of them. I declined because I wanted to ride my own sled to get it broken in.

Yes. Same thing they are doing to mine. Sucks, but the dealer seems on top of it. Hope there's not too many affected units.

Anymore info on this? On my last ride in about 6-10" of fresh snow everytime I would grab the brake it would sound like the track was ratcheting. Looked at the track and drivers today and it was fine. Not sure of the issue.

I have never heard of a track ratcheting under braking. Track tension looks good.

Visi-- Polaris tracks ratchet after they stretch during braking. Especially in our heavy Tahoe snow.

Polaris track tension is significantly tighter than you are used to with Ski Doo.

Adjust it to spec, trust me it will be waaaay tighter than you are used to, but it will work the better than loose.r

10 lb weight 16" forward of axle- 3/8- 1/2" inch of sag. Basically one finger on edge between hifax and track.
