First I would bet the numbers are much higher than that for mexicans.

If you can buy a wolf tag in ID and MT you should be able to buy an illegal mexican tag in AZ. The wolves are even here legally.
why don't you look at the statistics yourself?

And unless you are completely blind to the fact that we will not deport 12 million people, what is another solution?
Not sure if this is completely accurate (I doubt anyone knows for sure) but this says 22 mill illegals and only 1/2 million not Mexican....???

This is from the DHS (pdf), and where I got my original information. I didn't realize how old it was. Circa 1996. Though it looks like present day results see the Mexican illegal immigrants percentage increasing to 57%
According to that Mexicans make up 57% of illegals....the next single largest country is 4%....that's HUGE!! I would say it only makes sense to target Mexicans.
Why not just use different methods other then color of skin? Then you could have a method that would target all 100%. It doesn't have to be a target on nationality or skin color.
Also, only targeting 57% leaves out 43%, you are only targeting a little more then HALF of all illegals. From a security standpoint, I think this is a HUGE mistake, as all you have to do is not be a Mexican, and you don't have to worry enough. Sounds like some information terrorists would like to have to facilitate entry into the country.
Profiling = blinders on to other possibilities.
Arizona being on the border I think their issue is with the Mexicans. Easily identified by voice and skin color.....why not use the obvious to enforce laws and protect our country?
Sure, there are hundreds of nationalities in the US illegally.....the next group to go after (we should have already but we're too PC) is the middle easterners.....remember we're at war and they are over here trying to kill us. Heck, we're so nice we even let them here legally and pay for they college education and flying lessons while they build bombs and fly planes into buildings. Why don't you ask the Nazi's that one? It is a slippery slope, easily justified all the way down. Have you thought about how many people in Arizona are from Mexican heritage or look like Mexicans but are there legally? Seems about 25% of the state looks like Mexicans and yet they are LEGALLY there.
Then who would do most of the engineering and professional work in the US? It isn't white people.
Who are we at war with? Oh yah, "them" those dark skinned middle eastern people. Sure it doesn't matter that most of them are just regular people coming over here to provide a better life for themselves and their families. It doesn't matter that the people we are fighting with are of a specific religious ideology, not a country or a skin color.

There are no easy answers. Yes, alot of illegals do take planes.....they fly here legally and when their visa expires they are here illegally. I believe very few fly to Mexico and then run across the desert.
If they are legal and have their papers (or card, license, whatever) as the law states they must ...it's quick and simple. I don't see why anyone would be offended by being asked for their citizenship papers and I would hope they would be PROUD to show them. I have a Japanes aunt and it was one of the proudest days of here life....she also had to be fluent in English and know more about US history than most of us do to gain citizenship (this was in 1946).
I know it sounds odd to think this way because we are young and don't know how things used to be, but look at the internment camps for Japanese in 1942.....US citizen or not, they were isolated to protect the US.....it's not just the Nazi's that locked people up based on nationality/religion. I have seen some of them in Wyoming and read some books on them. Do you think it was justified? Do you think it accomplished anything? I don't know, I think it was done out of fear only.

I have know personally some of those people, and no it wasn't right - because most were CITIZENS protected by their constitution( which was ignored, as they choose to ignore it to reach their agenda NOW, then cry that this Arizona law is unconstitutional). Hence the $20k settlement in the early 90's for the surviving ones

to me this should have been looked at closer, and the "SEVERAL LEA's" that had previously arrested him should also be questioned IMO!

Still if they are "undocumented" or here illegally how can this be anywhere close to acurate??? Sure they can base their numbers on the ones that they know about but how many do they actually have no idea that they are in our country illegally????
Im not much of a betting man but I think its safe to wager that the ACTUAL true number of illegals here is much higher than what is reported.
If you read the DHS article, it talks about this issue though. You are correct, there could be problems with the sampling.
