BOSS seat or 2010 cat seat

I went with a new AC shorty seat. Kinda unsure now. Hope I like it. If after one sitting I don't like it, it'll be on Snowest dirt cheap and a new BOSS on order.

Here is the lowdown. Arctic Cat worked with Boss last year on seat production and development. They helped out with some different production ideas and molds and said that they were going to establish a relationship together for future production. Later in the year when it was time to lay plans for 2010, Cat told Boss they were going to do their own thing. Because Arctic Cat purchased the molds for the 2009 snowcheck seats, the molds are their property and they are using them for 2010 seats (the front portion mainly)

Because the 2009 Snowcheck seats had a tighter production schedule and were more cost concientious, Boss had do learn to do things differently than before and they used what they learned last year for the new seat they are producing this year. The made production changes that allow them to produce seats faster and at a better price point than before. This will benefit all of us....dealers and consumers alike.

The 2010 Arctic Cat seat is in my opinion the best looking seat for the M chassis that I have seen. However, after sitting on both, I will be running a Boss. The other advantage is the new storage configuration. You will be able to pack more in the seat than ever before. The quality is up and the price is down.

There will be a youtube video on the new Boss seat in a few days and I will try to post a link as soon as I can.

I hope this helps. If not, I now have carpal tunnel for nothing.
:D

I think the angle of the new seat is simply to help keep snow/water/etc out. Angling away is using gravity to help keep that stuff out. I am sure the boss die-hards will not like this, but one of the things I really do not like about the boss is it's mounting. Snaps and velcro IN MY OPINION is nothing more than taking the cheap way out. If it was so much better I would think the manufacturers would have been using snaps and velcro for a long time. Boss just does it because it is cheap, easy for them, and nothing to design for them. I would be fine with that if they sold the seat for $150, but not at their price point.

As for RACINSTATION's comment about Boss learning things last year that helped produce seats cheaper hence the lower price... I don't buy that line for anything. They are cheaper ONLY because they have stock equipment to compete with now. If Cat used the same seat as on previous M sleds the Boss would still be $500.

Well said and spot on IMO

2010 on the way.....270 or so shipped. That's reasonable, not 5 hundo.

I guess I should have put it differently. Because of the tooling changes and production line changes, they can produce seats more efficiently. I am not taking sides here, just passing along what I know. There is no doubt that competition is better for all of us. It will push companies to produce lower price and better products for us.

true story.... first or second ride last year, i lost my boss seat it fell right off my sled.after more velcro and two more snaps at the rear seat stays firm.my buddies are still laughing about that one.so i traded in my sled, snow checked on a new CF 800 le and i kept my boss seat, i will be doing a comparison in the fall, and going from there.
as for the new Boss seat i did see an ad on it.i believe there calling it H20 and it has lots of storage and pockets

I sat on both side by side yesterday and the Cat seat is very comfortable.
Nice height, fairly soft and the storage is massive. I like the Boss for the looks, but the storage is way less and they are rock hard.
I have run Boss for years, but I am leaning towards the Cat seat.
I may be joining Team Bill.

I put the new Cat seat on my M7 this past week. The storage is cavernous and the seat seems to be comfortable. After reading Cats article about there seats, they explained that they tried to prevent soaking by placing a plastic barrier between teh seat and the foam.
I guess I'll see how the seat works this winter, but for the money, storage, and riding position I can't complain about the new Cat seat.
And in my opinion the Cat seat looks great.

I have heard that new M seat does not fit on crossfire. I was about to order one but I was told that they do not fit on crossfire models only M. Because the gastank are different on CF.
Is there anyone with a new seat that can try to mount your new seat on a crossfire and see where it doesn't fit

M seat on a CF

i think they fit pretty decent.i was at the sled show in march/april with my buddies and we popped the seat off of the M/HCR and switched it on to the Crossfire.....have a look

the 2010 is very nice and cheap. Plus it has real storage under it and bolts up solid. Velcro mounting BLOWS in my opinion..........

Last year was the first year I have ever rode with a boss seat but I have to say that I really like the seat. I was worried about the velcro but it held extremely well. I also like how light the boss seat is.

I sat on the new AC seat at haydays so I'll throw my .02 in. I'm 6'6" and the new seat will not work for me. My legs are too long and my @ss is at the back of the seat...and being that the rear is tapered towards the front, doesn't work so well. It lifts up and seperates where it meets the tank so that is unfortunately out for me.

I also felt the new 10 boss seat at one of the dealer booths there. I'm very impressed at how light it was and the storage compartment is laid out nicely with all the different pockets. They seemed to put a decent amount of thought into this new seat, at least the storage area. That being said, it was NOT mounted on any machine...it was just sitting on a display.

Hope that info can help someone out.

Had my boss seat at haydays and sold it after checking out the 2010 Cat seats. Sold it for over $300 so even if I need to replace it sounds like it wont end up being too much of a loss.

Order my new AC seat and after sitting on one at haydays I think i will be very happy with it. Eithere way it will make everyone happy do to both are going to be priced a little more fair either way you go!!! Just my thoughts!!!!

Gave my Boss seat to my wife and stole her seat after she ordered in a 2010 seat. It's a inch taller and i like the short seat. Should be a winner!:D
After installing it on my sled I think it's better looking then the boss.

BOSS vs AC 2010

Sat on the new cat seat today on my new M8 SP. Very nice height and feel to it. Feels like sitting on a Boss seat. This is by far the best OEM seat any manufacturer has produced to date! The only thing that I do not like about the 2010 seat is that the HUGE compartment is all hard plastic lined. Anything that is hard, like a full can of "soda" is going to errupt in there going down through the bumps. I had no trouble finding a buyer for my new seat and am putting the new BOSS on there. The sale of the new seat paid for more then half of the BOSS.
Also, the BOSS is 6 lbs and the 2010 is 11 lbs.
