Come on Man
Correct me If I am wrong October 24-25 2014 ---
The Boise Snow show just gets worse every year.
Last Year it was in November when People are actually thinking about Snowmobiling. That was nice.
Moving the Swap meet indoors last year was not a good Idea.
Let see Go Hunting or go to the Snow Show ?
Greetings SixtySevenGT,
Thanks for providing your feedback. I'll endeavor to address your talking points in regards to the Swap meeting being held in conjunction with SnoWest, snow show. Our club took on the task of hosting the swap meet years ago, initially starting out in a Church parking lot on State Street. The fine members of the Foothills church allowed us to use their facilities. In time SnoWest brought their snow show to Boise and it was a natural evolution for the swap meet to join the snow show. The SnoWest folks and the vendors welcomed our club to their snow show.
I agree, with your observation that our visibility was greater to the folks who attended the snow show when we were physically located to the west of the entrance into the snow show and later on relocated to the south side of the exhibit building.
Your observation that folks attend the snow show and don't know there is a swap meet on-site, is interesting and disappointing at the same time. We are open to ideas for improvement going forward. However, SnoWest has an aggressive radio campaign to advertise both the snow show and the swap meet. The local snowmobile stores allow us to post fliers at their place of business advertising the snow show and swap meet. We are open to your ideas on how we can reach more riders, other advertising medium? Thoughts?
Initially, the Boise snow show was held in September or October (approximately, coping with CRS) that meant we typically had great fall weather and a strong turn out of swap meet vendors and shoppers. However, overall, the snow show received negative feedback that the snow show was too early in the year and most asked if the show could be push to later in the year. In time the show was push to November. What we experienced with the out door swap meet was we were now at the mercy of mother nature. We set up pop up tents and ran propane heaters to keep our staff warm. Some years we had less than 15~ swap meet vendors and very few shoppers due to the inclement weather. Every decision comes with positives and negatives and I'm not trying to dodge that and it's true one of which is unhooking your truck from your trailer. Our club keeps some dollies/sled lifts that everyone can use to roll their sled outside the building to start their sled for a potential customer.
Although this quite frankly has not materialized to date we thought there would be more interest in selling snowmobile suits, helmets and gloves...etc.
I agree that the scent of two stoke is intoxicating, that's why we love our sport!
Thanks, Craig.
