Blue Mountains 2017-18

I went to the southern side of the mountains at Tollgate Friday to remove snow. Had about 3 feet on the roof and then rained 4 inches on that so turned up the heat and took about 16 hours to get both sides to slide off so I could clean up. Water was over the highway because of the snow wall on the sides and couldn't escape. Slush everywhere and water logged in meadows. Rode today out about 5 miles with a few side by sides that had issues. Found out that trying to get side by sides through the lakes in the meadows is probably harder than getting Cats to the top of the mountain. Need a swamp buggy retriever to get stuck and broken down ones back in.

Otherwise it was a normal day in paradise with white snow and blue skies.

Happy New Year everyone! The east coast (9pm) fireworks have recently gone off on the mountain.

Rode out of Dayton today with feral cats...:face-icon-small-hap

Road to the snopark is bare and dry, parking lot plowed.. trails groomed... blue sky and fun with friends. The down side is the snow is like concrete and the French Canadian got warm several times to the point I had to shut it down to let it cool off :face-icon-small-sad... off trail riding was a hazard as many of the hills were icy and as quickly as you went up you would come down... backwards... The good news is there is a good base now... :face-icon-small-win

Rode out of clover land today for a shake down ride on a buddy’s sled and a rebuild on his dads 900. There may be 4 inches of snow at the snow park two or 3 miles up the road it gets a little better. North slopes past the cabin we dug a pit for practice and there was 4 and a half feet give or take

1/20/18 Ride Report Dayton

Riding out of Dayton, road in was slick, parking lot is plowed. Road out also slick, kid in truck too fast drove off said road.

Trails groomed and there is maybe 6-8 inches of new powder... much better that a couple of weeks ago but still need a couple of feet of snow.

Things we learned today:

Ski Doos have some super secret emergency switch that shuts the sled down when it tips over and then makes it a BITCH to restart

Safety first as it is important to tighten all caps, like oil tanks so when a Feral Cat is upside down the oil does not drain out

Ski Doo oil in feral Cats makes them run better:face-icon-small-dis

Thanks for watching after the Cat herd. You never know what they will be up to next. I was at Chelan for the weekend so good fresh snow there and great view of the North Cascades across the Methow Valley.

There were no Cats there probably because of wolves.

Is the Mt. Misery club's vintage show and shine going on a planned this weekend at Rose Springs? Should be nice with new snow.

When I was at the cabin Saturday it was still a go and they were trying to find someone to cook burgers up above because most will be at the race

we were going to go this weekend and now we have company for the weekend...that and we have a contractor starting a job for us on Saturday... so the vintage stuff stays in the shop (this was the year I was going to roll out my 72 Chaparral...maybe next year) also the old Feral Cat with Kutter is fun to bring out too...

Good deep snow finally

It was crazy busy on the Dayton side at Bluewood today. Snopark was busting at the seams and Forest Service was there sending snowmobilers back down the road to go up the Eckler Mountain side. Sleds were tracking up the snow almost everywhere. Trail was very bumpy from all the traffic on top of the new snow that blanketed the grooming under that. After dark there were still a lot of trailers in the parking lot.

The Cat's did pretty good today but they still seam to have a magnetic attraction for trees. Otherwise good day other than one still smelled a little like Ski Doo oil.

Ride Report 2/10/18

Out of Cloverland, riding on vintage iron. NO SNOW in the parking lot, road out is mostly covered, concrete, no lubrication to the point the little Yamaha came to a sliding stop as the hyfax welded to the track... Still can't get the stupid Polaris sleds to get off the line... We only rode as far as Potlatch road as there was NO SNOW for lubrication... scratchers would not have helped

Sounds like you need to go even older to bogie wheels. Back in the good old days where the deep snow was just something that would get you stuck.

I rode Tollgate side out to Tiger Canyon. The new snow at Bone Springs was about double that at Tollgate and top of Tiger Canyon was about triple the new snow at Tollgate. Very cold about 26 for a high today and 17 this morning.

It was only 1/4 inch new at Tollgate so ice scatchers were needed everywhere but they worked fine. Got back and found one had disappeared though and found someone's broken one right about in its spot in my parking lot. About a 70 mile ride today.

I made a sacrifice to the snow gods today. Should be the best late season snow ever. Purchased a Polaris. It is for sure to get stuck in the parking lot if there is more then 6 inches of fresh. No joke bought a 2018 Polaris.

Whoa that is a blow to the Cat clan. Were they out of new Cats? I see super sales have begun on Polaris and Ski Doo anyway. Congratulations if you can make it snow. Nothing else has seemed to work. What will be your new handle then?
