Blue Mountains 2009-2010

snow report

The snow over in cloverland is ok-getting to the parkinglot is no problem with little snow, pretty muddy below the tree line. The snow on wednesday was pretty good maybe 8" of fresh stuff up on top. Not a bad day if you have a secret place to ride at.....we do. HAHA .Hopefully we'll have more snow fall for the bucket run.

ride report 1-30-10

Nice day.. trails are all groomed so if you are a trail rider or needing that "family day" for riding with novice riders.. this is the weekend... For off the trail riders it is Yamaha snow.. there is some new better at 6000 feet and up.. some powder marker said 4 feet.

Craig Mountain tomorrow is another fun run

Keep in mind, mark your calendar... next weekend is the bucket run in the Blues... you will be able to start at either the Cloverland or Rose Springs parking lots... see ads in the Moneysaver this coming week...

Dayton the land of powder

Where do I start..... Well how about a great day in awesome snow with a bunch of Can't Doos as you will see in the photos to follow. The reason why Mike can't post pics right now is because the cat pictures are out for photo-shopping.

One of the answers to one of Plumuts quiz questions and photo is RMSHA solution to evening the playing field for the Skidoo XPs. Each Cat has to pull a 23 old polaris up the hill.

Here is a quiz. What does XP stand for???

Answer: Xtra Poaching required to make it up the hill.

Mike I needed to post one more photo for you. I thought maybe you could set this as your wallpaper on your computer. This way you can get some seat time on a real sled.

Quiz Time Pick A or B and then view photos

Which caption is correct for the following photos?

A) All M8 Cats now come with a Polaris 340 fan as the back up sled and for climbing the really steep hills Or

B) In response to Ski-Doos complaint of the POWER of the M8 Cats, all M8 must now tow a Polaris 340 fan when climbing hills

or C) You should NEVER ride a 340 Polaris off the groomed trail... this was a rescue as the 340 was not coming out of there without some help in the form of a M8 (Cat towing the Polaris with rider)... nice job Rob!!

Blue Mountains are...

blue mountains does that mean a all the places in WA to ride or is this a riding spot

The Blue Mountains that are referenced in this forum are located in SE corner of Washington State and NE corner of Orgeon.. access points are (Washington) Anatone, Cloverland, Rose Springs (Pomeroy), and Bluewood Ski Resort near Dayton. There is also access in the People's Republic of Oregon.. I'm aware of Tollgate.. but I am sure there are others..

While you were chewing up our snow I was over on the Peoples Republic side of the mountain at our place there. I am expecting good snow like that at Pomeroy next weekend at your bucket run. You can't just come poach all the Dayton powder without returning the favor for us to do next Saturday. :face-icon-small-hap I'm sure you loaded your trailers up and hauled it back.

Probably see you next weekend and hopefully I can gather up more riders if you can provide the good snow!:face-icon-small-coo

We promise :face-icon-small-hap we put ALL of the Dayton snow back just the way we found it.. Now regarding the Bucket Run this weekend (Out of Cloverland or Rose)... we ordered new snow but it is through a government agency and you know how long that can take.. but THERE IS SNOW.. COME Have Fun..

Bucket Run

If you stayed home.. you missed a GREAT DAY.. BLUE SKY, fresh SNOW, GROOMED trails... Great CHILI, BURGERS, HOT DOGS, TONS OF PRIZES.. Chance to win $$$.. it was a great day.. photos later.

I heard 120 hands were sold at the Cloverland parking lot and 250ish from the Rose Springs side...

A BIG THANK YOU to all of the Mt Misery Snowdrifters that put on the ride and all of the sponsors.. such as Waddel and Reed, Primeland, Les Schwab, Pomery Grocery, Tom and Linda Lindquist, Mac's Cycle, Guys Outdoor, Rays Cycle, and I know I am missing a lot more.. thanks!!!

National Weather Service (NWS) briefing, 1400 today:

1. 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, April 2, expect up a quarter inch per hour of rain in valleys.

2. NWS is forecasting heavy snowfall at elevations above 3,000 feet. By Saturday at 3 a.m., projections are for 10-12 inches of new snow accumulation in the Blues. Tollgate and Bluewood specifically named.

3. Flooding not expected unless something plugs.

4. Many people have removed studs on their vehicles, making mountain travel more hazardous.

What way to wrap up winter. Be safe.

Went sledding in the Blues yesterday 4/3 with about a foot of new powder. If the weather would have been better it would have been a perfect way to end the season. Snowed hard at times and light most of the rest.

Got a new Toy

The wife bought a new toy. Not my favorite brand but it will work. 2003 Seadoo Speedster 4-Tec. Yeah it broke a little on the first trip out. Lost the bolt and bushing the hold the reverse plate on. Broke 50 on the way back to the dock.
