Blue Mountains 2009-2010

Howdy All

Hey Guys,

Drew Sattler directed me over this way and I just wanted to pop in and say hello. I work and live in Pullman and ride with a couple guys from here. We typically go over to Elk River, but I've been wanting to get down to the Blues for some rides. We would most likely put in at Cloverland since it's the closest. Any idea when that access starts to get some good accumulation?

I'm riding a 99 RMK 700 and my buddy is on a 98 RMK 500. Hope we can link up at some point this season. I was just up there for the last weekend of elk season and the snow that started falling then had me thinking things were going to be pretty good this year. :beer;

Plumnuts

Hey thanks for getting that purple trailer off our road, now I just want to see some cats on the side of the house instead of those skidoos everyday JK. Rode cloverland 4 times now. started to melt on sunday. :(

i've ridden cloverland once, that was not last weeknd but the weekend before and there as about two and a half, three feet id say at the warm up cabin, rode from clearwater lookout to th warm up cabin, then to misery last weekend, it was a little bare, it was melting pretty fast, so hoefully we can get some precip this next couple of days.

just got back from cloverland. ran into about 6 jeeps/pickups, trails kinda torn up told them to get the F out and wrote down a couple licsense plates they came in on the ridge and said they were going out potlatch creek. time to get the berm plowed.

Snowmobilers rescue stranded Jeep driver

From the Tamarack Inn Web site the ride to from Tollgate to Bluewood, how this guy got there I'm not sure.

The Bluewood Ride on Saturday the 12th was the trip of a lifetime for most of the 20 riders that made the trip. Weather conditions, and snow conditions were perfect. With 4 to 8 inches of fresh powder on the ground, and groomed trails all the way to Tiger Canyon, the riding was super. Five miles past Bone Springs, the group came upon a 4X4-moron that drove his jeep out in the middle of nowhere, got stuck, and spent the night wondering if he'd ever get out. The snowmobilers helped him get his rig un-stuck, got him turned around, and two of the riders sacrificed the rest of their ride just to follow him out, ensuring that he got out alive. when he was reported to the Sheriff The riders found out they a missing persons report had been filed and they were looking for him the authorities met him when he finally made it down. Several of the riders decided the trip was a bit too much, and turned back at the "Milk Shakes".... but 11 of the guys made it all the way to the Godman warming shelter. The trip totaled 101 miles round trip, with no accidents and no breakdowns. Everyone had a great time too. If you missed this one, don't miss the next club ride!! Pictures below: click on the picture for a larger view. Pictures were taken by Ken Miles. Special thanks to Glenn Warren for leading the ride. Couldn't have done it without you !!

Bucket Run Input needed

I need some input for all the LC valley folks. As many of you know the Misery Snow Drifters have their annual bucket run early in February each year out of Rose Springs. This year it is on February 7th, mark your calendars.

I have a proposal.
What if the you could the start bucket run at either Rose Springs or Cloverland???
Would any one be interested?
Would anyone be willing to run a station on the Cloverland side?
Where would the stations be? My thoughts are the Parking Lot, Wenatchee Guard Station, Wickup Campgrounds and ???? or ????
The idea would to be to get more people involved.

Please let me know what you think. Ask your riding buddies. We need to make a decision by the January meeting.

My phone number is 509-397-0202.

Thanks,
Rob Shindler

Ride Report 12-26-09 With continued Cat bashing

:D

Okay the report the trails are not groomed, snow is rock hard, weather sucked... well maybe all of this might be incorrect... actually trails are groomed, weather was super... and powder on top.. looks to be 3.5 feet at the marker. Great riding for December

Cat Bashing (women and children should not read this or at least devert your eyes)

CB 7 and CB 8 (Cat Boy 700cc with 1168 inches of track and Cat Boy 800cc with 1153 inches of track) were trying to climb the A side of the area known as Diamond Peak.. you know the hillclimbing area.. well sadly the Cats well, er the pictures speak for themselves... The Doo (with a mere 146 track) went much, much higher

And this choice picture is CB 7 checking the skags and other under the sled hardware... sadly this is what happens when a Cat follows XPs:

There is a report of a carefully crafted and PhotoShop photo of a XP stuck, but hey you know with PhotoShop you can change any photograph...

Dear Mr. Plumnuts,

My snowmobile seems to have a touch of the XP Doo syndrome. When climbing the skis are three off of the ground and it is completely out of control.

Thanks for the ride today. I have some learning to do with the new track. And yes today you were the king of the hill and head trench/hole digger.

How about an explanation of what a "bucket run is"? A poker ride???

In Washington you can not call it a "poker ride" so the Misery Snodrifters call theirs the "Bucket Run". There is a prize for high and low hands. Lot of give aways and a chili feed at the end. This is a great event for everyone especially families.

Had a nice morning ride from Rose Springs early this AM. Got in around 7:30 and was out by 10:45; may have passed a few of you guys on the trail today. Nice spot up there, first time riding it; may be back this weekend. :)
