Blue Mountain Snow conditions

looks like an avy?...with the real cold there was a hoar and with the dump of wet it was better to stay home... anyone get hurt?

Yup avalanche. Nobody was in it. We parked above it right where the picture was taken from. The snow was awfully good to of stayed home yesterday though!

Thinking about driving down this weekend. Can you ride from the Touchet snowpark and can I get my 30 foot motorhome and trailer in there?
Thank you

It was very warm and wet yesterday and it appears to have cooled off today so conditions may be hard if it stays cold. You can ride out of the SnoPark. Bluewood opened for skiing today with 16 inches at the lodge and 26 inches on top. Snow is marginal with staying on the roads the best option if you don't want to break anything. The groomer has been out packing some of the trails and breaking open some of the drifted areas so if that freezes then the trail where groomed will be very hard.

It might be tight to make the corner into the parking lot as the berm along the road goes way up where it gets tighter to turn. If that is too difficult then you can drive on up to Bluewood and turn around and make getting into the SnoPark a lot easier. It was plowed decent last weekend and no new snow yet.

anyone have any pics of when they went out?

parking areas, road in or areas where ever?

Wildcard

I would bet Cloverland has little to no snow in the parking lot (don't get caught driving up the road (beyond the snow park) by the Forest circus... it would be very spendy!)

Thanks plumnuts thought about driving up to take a look
Just thought about bringin the sled and ride around not far from
Parkin area just to get a skakedown on new engine dont sound
To promising

Dayton

Dad and I rode 54 miles on the Dayton side near Bluewood today. Trail groomed out past Table Rock. We road out that way early on. Amazing clear sky, could see both Adams and Rainier in the distance. We then made our way back to Godman for a burger and headed out towards Teepee.

2-3 fresh inches of dry powder on top of base. Base could be broken through to get down to more soft snow underneath.

Open areas/ridges seemed to have the best snow, wind has blown the snow into these areas. Thick timber still hard to navigate especially if there are many downed trees, very little accumulated here.

Most of the areas we normally ride were accessible. Don't get me wrong, still need more snow, but was much better than what I was expecting

Not bad for the first ride of the season.

I am thinking about a day off to play tomorrow at Bluewood area. They picked up about a foot at this posting and have more on the way. Anyone else interested?

I would love to come since the weekend looks so crappy but work is calling my name.

Sorry

What is the scoop?? Anyone going to Dayton tomorrow?? On the fence right now. Got an offer to ride P-roy tommorow. Wish the weather was better. Freezeout is sitting on a ton of fresh powder but zero visibility.

Like Bleu said about 1 foot of new snow. It was a little warm and wet in the SnoPark but got better up higher. A lot of wind and with grooming done late in the week it was still drifted across the road in places trying to get to Godman. I am headed to Tollgate to plow snow in the morning. Looks like the temps. have cooled off though. The groomer has been down the 700 trail so it is a little better over the creek and the water bars. Also there were 2 Forest Service cops working the road off the mountain Sat. afternoon so watch the 35 mph speed zone.

Bleu might be available if you have a snowmobile to furnish him. :face-icon-small-dis It seems he has had to borrow one to finish each of his rides this year. We did just a quick in to Godman for a burger and out Chase to the gravel pile was about all we saw of the mountain. Whiteout in the morning is what we were told and nice in the afternoon by the time we got there.

The trees are getting older and less flexible and so am I so got brushed off the sled on one hill and added some more Realtree camo to the hood. A new Cat didn't fare so well with a downhill encounter with a tree. It was a good few hours though.:face-icon-small-ton

speaking of the forest circus... heard at the Mt Misery cabin they wrote a lot of tickets to people without Washington licenses (remember this year Washington does not recognize snowmobile permits from other states)
