Blown crank....covered by insurance?

so the crank just went on my 03 polaris VE. Does anyone know if my insurance will cover it? Has anyone claimed a blown motor/crank on thier insurance? I think they should but you know insurance companies....they will do whatever to not have to pay. I can see them saying something like, it wasnt rider error or not a collision or something like that. thanks

No, there is a difference between "insurance" and "warranty". Insurance is for accidents and injury, warranty is for failure and premature wear. If you call and try to claim it, they will laugh at you....

Thanks FM...this is kinda what i thought but just checking b4 i get laughed at.....Ya i knew it wouldnt b warranty cause the sled is 7 years old!

maintainence items and mechanical failures are not covered by insurance. if the unit in anyway is damaged further by continued use after an impact causing more damage that portion of the loss may not be covered at all either. ski

Hey Twister - what is Gaurding??????

Twister
Currently: GAURDING THE PRISON

Hee hee.

Now, if the crank failing caused your sled to say, burst into flames (*wink wink*) then the insurance may cover it. If not, play it safe and call Indy Dan.

the only way it would be covered is if you crashed your sled, then a blown engine was a result of the accident and SHOULD be covered

Don't laugh too hard!
Seen it done a couple weeks ago.
A guy I know got pitched off, sled got hung up in a tree, branch pinned the throttle wide open and the crank broke before he could get to it to shut it down.
It happens LOL
And his insurance is gunna pay enough for the new billet crank but not enough for the hole in the case and what ever else it needs. Not bad in my book.

At Glamis a couple years ago a friend blew a Mendiolla tranny in his sandcar and State Farm did cover it believe it or not. They said a collision w/ the ground caused major damage to the tranny. State Farm sent him a check for $5,500 for the repair. I will say he was very good friends w/ the agent though:face-icon-small-sho
