Big Horns South Lodges 09-10

Any word on if any lodges are going to be open at the south Big Horns this year? I rode this area a few times last year and it would sure be nice to have a place to stay up top.

The way it sounded a few months ago they hoped to have Meadow Lark open. The owners of another well know resort (can't remember the name) bought it. So should be good when it does open.

Rumor has it that they are gonna try and get one lodge working this year, but I was up there this summer and nothing had been done. It would be nice to be able to have food and a search and rescue. I don't know if you would want to stay at the Meadow lark Cabins there pretty run down, the Deer Haven Cabins are a lot nicer.

that has got to be the first time i've ever heard somone say somthing was nicer at dear haven.
My family and i have said that for years and everyone thought us nuts. wish more people would think that way better area for parking more room in general and don't have to walk up and down hills to get anywhere.
so yeah have to agree on the cabins being better.

The owners of South Fork bought all the lodges, including Bighorn Ski Resort. They hope to have Meadowlark open this winter but that's about it. One's better than none I guess.

Im not to fond of the new owners of the lodges. A few years ago a friend and I where going to get some wyoming sled permits from the south fork lodge. We pulled in with a 4 place inclosed trailer. The Northern Wyoming snowmobile trail maps said they sold trail permits. So we pulled in to buy the permits and where told off by the man running the place. He did not have anything good to say about snowmobilers. After that we had to pull out of there with the 4 place. Was not much room to do so. I found a spot and turned around coming by the lodge again the man comes running outside and yelling something about how I drove on his lawn. I guess I was in the wrong there with 3 feet of snow on the ground and temps in the teens and not having a place to turn around. I hope things will go smoother at meadowlark though.

Have you ever priced a cabin at South Fork? Wowie, maybe one's not better than none. We'll see.

Ya hopefully one of the lodges will be open so they can use the resuce sled that my dad built and I built, cause last year if you got hurt you were on your own that is kinda scary.

ya meadowlark is under new ownership and like everyone said they were planning on opening it, but i really doubt that they will open them. no work has been done at all i dont think. it would be nice to have somewhere to eat though

mm 41 the rescue sled that you and your dad built is a very nice sled and works very well. Even if the lodges don't open the rescue sled will still be on the mtn. Washakie county S & R has a sled shed that we move to the mtn and park near deerhaven and the rescue sled will be there. Thanks again for building and donating the sled.

wood pile

By the looks of the wood pile in front of Deer Haven I think that is the lodge they will be opening. Work looks like it is being done there I see nothing at the other two.
