Big horns.....2008/2009

Need to hook up with you one time this winter Wyoming T/A. Like to see how the ol 1000 still holds up to the new 800s. See if i need to buy one next year or not.

we'll be there every weekend till cooke is up to 30" :eek:or better then where the most fresh snow is:D

Planning on heading up over thanksgiving weekend even if its just to tool around on the trails... Hopefully we get some snow tho these next 2 weeks.

South side of the horns!

Is it really true that they are closing Meadowlark because if it is I think i will ride up north more this year!! There won't be any place to eat anymore!!

Just drove that area last week. Both lodges Meadow Lark and Deer Haven were closed. Big white sign plastered right on there sign. No action around the area at all. + the north side is better. Also the passage Resort on the north side by Bear Lodge is closed down also. ONLY BEAR LODGE AND ARROWHEAD ARE OPEN ON THE FAR NORTH SIDE! RANGER CREEK AND SNOW SHOE ARE ALSO OPEN JUST SOUTH OF BEAR! Passage resort is closed until dec. 15th. thats when they may reopen. They also got shut down. And the owners got rid of all employess. Most of them. That was a bad place. Lot of drugs at passage. they are gone now.

Im thinking the fiancee and I might head up to Bear before thanksgiving before we drop to the otherside of the mountain for turkey day. Hope we get a few more inches before then. should be a good tuner run though.

How did they get shut down? They are the only resort up there that owns the land they're built on. The forestry service has not juristiction over them. I know they wanted to get all new help this year...they needed it! I just made reservations with them a few weeks ago and they are pretty well booked up over the holidays.

I called tonight and no one answered. We were hoping to go out over new years. One thing about it, if they operate like last year, there will be plenty of cancellations

It wasn't the forest service. From my understanding they cut a bunch on corners on the new place they built with building codes and maybe some sewer things but not completly sure. But they state shut them down from my understanding. But I know they are shut down, untill atleast Dec 15th from what I hear. And they need to get a whole new staff and be there by then and trained for all that. Thats alot of work. See what happens. But I know for sure they are closed as of right now till dec 15th.

Hi
Here is the truth as I am part of the new management company that was hired to revamp The Passage Resort. We are open with a small staff until December 1st. At that time we will be fully staffed. We are cleaning up the place and training an entire new staff for the lodge/dining room/hotel and rental shop.
My husband and I have SnowShoe lodge and are in the process of hiring a complete new staff here at the Passage. We are open for business at both places although we do not have enough snow for riding, we are open.
The Passage resort has had a great deal of problems in the past and hopefully we are changing that. We have a fresh group of people here that are hand picked for their jobs. Very friendly wait staff, good cooks and knowledgable informative front desk staff.
So please dont be afraid to stop in and say Hi....check out the new hotel .....get gas a good meal and see what we are doing....

Good DEAL!. Hopefully get it up and going. Its nice place jus needs good staff and it will shape up nice. Thanks for doing that. Snowshoe is a fun place to. stop in grab a quick bite and head out again. Did it many times last year very happy with the business. Thanks alot guys!

So Glad to hear the passage will have good people this year!!!!!!!!!! We have stayed there 3 trips every year since the cabins were built. The new owners have been great and really turning the place around the past few years they just didn't have the right people in there. The wait staff (Front desk, Bar tender's, Waiter/Waitress) Need to speak english!!! It has been very Frustrating the past few years. Glad to hear this is changing.

Does Flitner still own SnowShoe Lodge???

I found this on the web site.....

Snowshoe Lodge is owned and operated by The Hideout at Flitner Ranch (www.TheHideout.com ), an upscale guest ranch operation on one of the largest working cattle and horse ranches in the American West. The Hideout's headquarters overlook the tiny village of Shell, Wyoming (population 50); which is also the closest town to Snowshoe Lodge. Snowshoe Lodge and other guest lodgings of The Hideout are located on the 100-year-old Flitner Ranch, which now encompasses over 250,000 acres in the Big Horn Basin and Bighorn National Forest.

hope to be down soon, need to take a test run and check it out for another year. can you leave bear and ride to hi country or do you have to come in from the other side? either way i"m going to be there the day after thanksgiving hope to see you somewhere on the mountain.
