big horn conditions

I am heading to the big horns tomorrow. I am staying at elk view lodge. what are the conditions like and what kind of riding is it??? I have never been there and need some input.

night life is ok. Not real roudy! If you plan to stay out riding more than you have fuel for? Yes pack fuel. There is one ride Im aware of that you can get fuel for the ride back. I cant recall the name of the lodge. but if memory serves me right its about a 60 mile ride one way. If your the type to put the hammer down and not let off tell you get there it take about an hr. VERY,VERY good trail riding!

Wyoming High Country is around 20 miles west of Bear lodge and they have fuel. I would put some on the back of your sled just in case. Never a bad idea. When we were there 1.5 weeks ago Snowshoe to the south of the lodges was closed.

thanks a lot

You will be riding between 8 and 9 thousand feet you mite get to 9400 feet in some spots. There is a lot of snow there now 40" around the lodges 70 to 80" the further out you get. Its supposed to be above freezing all this week.

Ive got reservations at elk view for the week of the 12th of march... man i hope this weather turns around

Just got home from there tonight. Snow was good Thursday and Friday, by Saturday it was getting pretty tracked up. The wind blew between 70 and 80 mph on Sat nite. I think the tops are pretty much blown off now. I think it was almost 40 on Sat too. We stayed at Elkview and the road was blown shut with about 4 feet of snow, they had to bring a big snow blower up to clear the road. I would say you will probably have to look pretty hard to find untracked snow until they get some more.
