Big Colorado Bulls and bucks

Alright where are all the pictures of the Bulls and Bucks killed in Colorado this year. I saw a moster 6x6 bull this morning but couldnt get close enough to take a shot.

I always see big bulls about 50 yds south of the Evergreen Fire Station. I think you could pet them if you tried so it should have been pretty easy to stick with the bow. There's a couple of big old cocky bastards down there.

Of course you would have to deal with all the greeny fricken liberals and old smoked out hippies while you quartered him up next to hwy 74...

Well i was looking for cows this mornign below my house and of course i didnt have my bow and i go within 20 yards of him on my fourwheeler but went and got my bow and couldnt find him so i am going to hunt the nights and try to get him and if not im going to hillside/bear creek this weekend and hopefully i can close the deal on my first elk with a bow.

Dad just got back from Muzzle Loading in the Rawahs for Elk. Didn't see dick in a course of 7 days. Could have been the 3 deer hunter artards in there that didn't know what they were doing walking in the wide open all day long

Saw a lot of Moose

but not many elk that wern't showing me their tails. Hunted 8 days with the blackpowder again. I don't see much advantage to it anymore, as every dick and harry is in the woods with one now. Had a little snow the first day, but then the temps jumped into the 60's the rest of the week. Moose are really starting to irritate me, time to start reducing that herd:face-icon-small-dis Had one hanging out near my camp and darn near ran into it twice on my way in and out. I could have stunned him with a big rock at 10 yards away. Unit 8 has never been full of elk, but the numbers seem to be especially low the last few years. It's a CWD unit, so I guess DOW is trying to annhialate the elk and deer, and I think they've succeeded. I had my chances though, so I can't cry I didn't see anything. That sucks not to at least see some game. Ran into a couple bulls that got the jump on me just before I spotted them. I stalk hunt mostly and rely on heavy binoc use to spot em just before they bolt. Def. not the most successful method, but It's a hoot when you sneak up on em and all he!! breaks loose:D

Funny...I got a rare, cell signal on Wed. afternoon and was sitting on a log talking to Mavericks Motorsports, trying to get them to sponsor our forum ride raffle. They agree to a donation:) So I'm feeling pretty good about that and continue on my way. I'm a little pre-occupied with my little success and not paying particular attention to what I'm doing as I stumble on about 10 steps, when all of a sudden this monster bull whirls around in some thick spruce saplings 50 yards ahead and proceeds to show me his tail and huge rack as he hauls azz outta there. Humph I thought, and welcomed back my chittly luck:rolleyes: lol. Couple moose pics from the area.

Just Got Back Myself!

Hunted Sat. thru Fri. with the muzzleloader. We had seven guys in our group, on Thursday I let the team down and missed a cow. One other guy had a shot at a Bull but missed as well. Our group ended up being skunked. It still beat the hell out of working in the city. Although, I physically worked alot harder elk hunting.

Come on Paul - draw that swampy donkey tag and get 'er done.

...on second thought, don't - I will and you can come "camping" with me / LOL

I finally closed the deal this season with the bow on a nice cow. Had some help from Yammer - my new personal sports psychologist :) Have to share that story over a fire in MC lot.

Last years winter kill was the highist seen in some areas since the 70's.

I love hunting but often hate most hunters. Big game season has turned into a real rat race here in CO! Theres some good guys out there but as a whole I cant think of anything more dangerous the first rifle season !

As for the topic, Sorry I didnt draw this year.

Got a nice cat last year

Congrats on the bow kill, can't wait to hear the tale ;) That ain't easy even when your seeing game! I used to love bowhunting and some of my favorite hunting memories are from then. Guess I got lazy...or hungry! Yeah i need to start putting in for a marsh mule tag. Only takes 10 years to draw one! May be a little more sporting if ya hunt them with a club or spear though. lol Here's my "plush" hunting camp parked on the ridge with a clear view to the cell tower, for internet access! Oh how times have changed! The bike gets me back in another 10 miles real quick. I imagine where Yammer hunts your not dragging in the shag wagon eh?

Nice cat man! Mmmm good eatin. lol. I tried a little fox once....tastes like skunk! I've seen a few lions in my 22 years in CO (never a bobcat), and can't imagine how tough it is to hunt any cat. That's pretty studly!

I hear ya on the crappy hunters out there. I rarely see them actually in the woods though, but the drive home you have to watch out not to hit them with their lights off cruisin the roads:face-icon-small-dis It's funny, these guys presumably buy a license, then basically resort to poaching to fill their tag.

Though I couldn't get the deal done on a bull, we came close a couple times.
Rky poked a hole in that cow and shortly there after a bull grunted back at us. We were going for a two-fer outta the same herd but thought we'd better be blood hounds before it got dark.

I did happen to get a letter from Jeffco open space saying they are opening
a park to 25 deer tags in the late season. I was one of the lucky ones to
have been chosen to hunt one of those monsters. We'll see how that goes.
I also hold 3, yes THREE speed goat tags. One on a ranch in NC Colorado, one in SE Colorado and another in Wyoming. :)

Paul, that is one BIG bullwinkle in that pic!! I'd love to stick him with a bow!

^^^Good luck with all the tags Jim! Ya, that old bull can bearly carry his headgear, I'd like to relieve him of it too!

I'm gonna have to check here and see if there's any leftover tags I can snag up. Would be nice to go after a cow or doe for the freezer.

Here's my archery bull I got last week! Not huge but a trophy for me.

I had a couple of bulls screaming at me one was the herd bull that was surounded by cows and was going to be hard to get to with the wind so I went after this guy. He sure sounded like a stud and was screaming at me the whole time I was calling to him. He finally came into 8-10 yards screaming at me it was self defence at that point. I shot him in the heart and he went 100yrds and fell under the log in the pic.

2 day pack out 4-5 miles each way down in a hole ouch! I've never been so tired the first day when I was by myself gutting and hanging him up. I shot him at 9am and didn't get back to camp till 9pm that night totally spent. I ran out of water around 1pm I wont do that again!

Here are a couple of nice mulies from our early rifle season hunt near some of our favorite winter play areas. The crazy non typical scored 264 B&C gross, it should make the book if my brother decides to strip the velvet for an official measurement, but either way we were more than happy.
