Big Bore kits.

Im looking at trying out my first big bore for the proclimb. Ive normally ran turbos but looking for a more tree friendly off idle power climbing son of a B. Ive never rode a big bore so im not sure what to expect or if ill be wishing I just went with a turbo. I was looking at Cutler 950 and Bikeman 940. Ive heard a lot of good things about the 940 but not a lot about the 950. Ive been around the cpc turbos and was impressed so I know dale makes quality stuff. Another thing is the 950 kit is 3000 vs 4700 for the 940. Now im not sure if that's everything for the 950 tho so that could play into it. Most my riding is done right at 9000' and occasionaly go 11+. I wont need clutching as im running team tied with MDS so will have to kinda do my own thing im sure. Anyways looking for some opinions that have ran both or know more about them then I do.

.

If money is not an issue you might want to consider a supercharger. I rode with one this winter and I was very impressed. I hope to get a test drive next winter.

i don't think 3000 is a right price for a complete 950 from cutlers, total cost is probably closer to 5000....i know of at least two 950 tow-outs....haven't heard of a 940, but i'm sure somebody has toasted one...i run a 940, good power low and mid-range, clean fueling and clutching, if i'm reading you right on what you want....tree riding power is very good, 3" track is good with that engine, but overall i like the 2.6 for most riding...be nice to have two sleds for different snow conditions, maybe in another life...:face-icon-small-hap

The $3000 for the cpc is just the cylinders, pistons and head. You will still need fuel controller, pipe, y-pipe, can, reeds, throttle bodies, timing key and clutching to match what you get for $4700 with bikeman. Only know one person with a cpc 950 and it is turboed. Have a couple guys with 940 pro lights and they run well. A couple of us have the RKT 925 and that is what I prefer. Runs very very strong. Full dyno on dyno tech research. At the end of the day it comes down to how well it's tuned and clutched, they will all be very strong.

Took the Terra Alps 930 out on weekend, fully ported, billet head 13-1, Y pipe, stock pipe, simple and works. Not just a bored out and replated bigbore.

I run cpc 950 and I have to say wow. In this snow I'm afraid it's going to come over on me. I've ridden fully modded n/a polaris 800 and m1000 and this setup simply works. Best engine I've had yet. I had problems with the pcv with ignition control but they seem to have that working now. I'm running a full bikeman y pipe, pipe, and cutlers can, tki belt drive, and some other mods. Sled rips. I find it hard to believe that anyone can blow up up a 950bb and attribute it to a faulty kit from cpc. Dale is an exceptional guy and always available. Do the right breakin and you'll have trouble free miles

Arctic edge 920 with a jaws big shark pipe.Brent knows his stuff and is great to deal with!

920? I think you mean 925cc or atleast thats what mine is from Brent. Have about 1000 miles on it now and still have the original plugs in! Pull and go, just got back from 3 days and didnt miss a beat! Even the $30,000 turbo pro i rode with was impressed and couldnt believe I didnt have to do any tuning or ****ing! lol

I rode a 2008 m8 153" running 11psi at 10,000 feet in the snowy range for the past 5 seasons and loved the power. No regrets.

Have a 2013 162 now with a BMP 900 kit & c3 belt drive... way more snappy & useable in the trees. And it doesn't give up much on the big hills either. The newer turbo kits were tempting for similar $$$$, but I don't regret the 900 at all after 5 days riding it this year. LOVE IT!! It's really a blast to have instant off-idle low-end snap. Go for the big-bore since you have already done the turbo experience.

I have ridden some, but not all of the BB motors and my #1 choice would be a tie between the 900 BMP and the 940 BMP. With a lot of tuning on the 14 prototype 940 that I had, the bottom end was pretty good, but not as good as the 900. The 2015 940 with Kevin's map in it and the addition of the 52 mm throttle bodies made the bottom end as good as the 900. The 940 has more torque and a little more top end than the 900 now.

did your 940 do well at home as well as at elevation ? if so any dicking around or just clutch and go

I only rode it a little bit at home and it ran really well, but I was too scared to stay on the throttle very long. I probably have a 300 yard window inside my fence that I rode it. Kevin has maps for the PCV for lower elevations that are working very well. The nice thing about having the PCV is its really easy to change the maps. I had the PCV with timing where I was able to change the map at a push of a button. I mainly used it for tuning at higher elevation though.
