BEWARE!!!!!! in Cooke City

whats the story on this snowsnob..??...he has bad blood with the Cooke shop..??

He has a post on the Montana forum about CC Exxon ripping him off on a rental and or a bad belt. Says he is a banker and his buddy is a lawyer and he is going to sue Exxon. Now isn't that ironic that the 2 biggest crooks in this country are going to sue Exxon because one of the crooks got screwed? Bankers screw more people in a day than a small business man ever could in a lifetime.

Beware

wolf, i to would and have payed much more than retail for parts and service. when out of town and in remote areas just to stay out and keep enjoying my self. but that being said i didn,t enjoy it. zeeman said other people in town had the part so it wasn,t the only game in town. being a mechanic for the past 25 years i've never felt the need to take advantage of out of towners mifortunes just to pull down a lousey extra 30 bucks.it won't help any body's business to treat people like that.i'm sure zeeman can aford the 30 bucks but is peeved because of the principle of the deal. if he would have come into my shop i probably would have just good willed him the part. hope you would do the same because you never know when its gonna be you over the barrell.

Thank you mtncat1, I could not have said that better, that was exactly the point I was trying to get across. I'm sorry if I made Rick out to be a bad guy, I was not trying to do that. Like I said before, I'm sure Rick has done a lot of good for a lot of people in the past. It was just the principle of that part.

I want to add my.02 cents.
There was a large heating company here in town that sold parts directly to the end users. They would pay someone to receive the frieght and stock it on the shelves and then they paid someone to awnser the phone from someone that needed a part. That person would drive to this place and someone would greet him and go get the part he needed.
They were most of the time sad at the price they had to pay. Most were not thankfull they fixed thier furnace on a cold day with parts they had gotten themselves from this heating company. Word got around and the heating company got a bad rap.
The heating company laid off some people and stopped selling parts to the public. Now people have to wait two days to get their own parts. Turns out some call this heating company and have the techs come out to do the repairs because no one sells parts anymore. They charge 100 per hour and mark parts up. They built a new shop and have insurance for all the techs and lived happily ever after. Its just a bummer for everybody else because a few people complained about the cost of parts.
Next time you go to buy a part SMILE AND BEND OVER we will all be happier in the long run.........

well....since my sled is fuel injected i have ditched the c clips... but my two 2smoker bikes in the garage...different story there...I lost a clip, because as one reply said...they are notorious for flying off to never ever be seen again...Local shop in town had none in stock (missed several rides with friends while waiting for parts) i probably would have paid the 32 bucks to ride..So like others said, at least it wasnt a total waste of a trip, you got to ride...and always carry an extra clip or two with your jets...I have been in the hills on my bike messing with the jetting and lost a clip, didnt have a spare, and spent two hours looking for the darn thing. almost cost me a walk out, in MX boots...

Bear Lodge

Yep, its like Bear lodge up in the big horns. My dad pulled the pull cord completely out of the starter. we took the sled to get it fixed(assuming it would be quick with the proper tools) and they stalled half a day and said they couldn't get to it the next trying to get us to rent one instead for two days.

We said screw it, we went into the restaurant and asked if anyone could do it for some cash. Four guys stepped up and helped us, and wouldn't let us pay them but with a round of drinks.

Long story short at least he got you what you needed.

I was at Bear Lodge for the first time last Thursday morning till Saturday afternoon, my friends that I was with it had been a few years since they had been there. Service was great! I had bent my handle bar and while straightening it broke half way through, so I bought another set at the lodge and was not expecting any help from anyone at the lodge. We were fixing it in their shop with flashlights as the power was out while WY electric did some maintenance, and Brian was in there helping us pull the old bars off and put the new ones on. We were in there for about 30 min, I went to give him some money for helping us and he wouldn't take it, but took it and donated it to search and rescue fund, which I was more than happy to do. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again, the snow was good and everyone was friendly. I had accepted that I might have to rent a sled (which I haven't driven a Pro yet and wanted to:D) because there is no way they would have a set, but, handle bars are cheaper! Maybe they were busy and didn't have anyone to fix it at the time?

That could have been true, and if it was he could have told us that the first night we took it there. I don't remember the guy's name, but he said he was pretty sure he would have it done so it would be ready in the morning. Then the next day he was too busy all day. I hoped for the best thinking he would stay a little late to fix it(and he would have been rewarded very well for it too). Like I said, I am not bitter and I didn't expect any better; I just hoped for better and the service we did get was decent enough just not what I would call excellent.
