BEWARE!!!!!! in Cooke City

Wait a sec....Lemme see if I got this straight?

You, Zeeman, spent hundreds if not over a thousand bucks to travel all the way to Cooke City to ride a sled that has carbs???

And you're bitching about $32 for an out-of-date part for some ratty ditch banger? What percentage of your total cost did this $32 represent? 2%?

Zeeman...is that like Z-man, as in ZR1? You ride a hot-rod trail sled? Badass! Hope you remembered your checkered flag leathers and fur hat...

My advice: Upgrade your sled, your gear, and your priorities.

When was it required to have the lattest and greatest to have the privilage to ride in a place like Cooke City? Some of us cannot afford to buy the lattest and greatest and still have our fun with some of the old school tech like a flat slide carb sled. I for one am tired of the attitude that unless you have something new you are not worthy to ride the mountains and should stick to ditch banging and treated like a second class citizen. This sport needs numbers to protect what we have so do not count out us poor riders who still ride the old stuff, like it or not you need our voice too if you want to ride that new sled.

WHOAAAAAAAAA that was just lame. I have 4 sleds in an enclosed trailer and 3 of them have carbs and 2 of them will kick the crap out of the one that is fuel injected. So what is wrong with carbs???? At least the average joe can work on them and tune them. The post wasn't about carbs it was about supposedly getting hosed. And Rick is a good guy regardless of what some say.

just because he payed alot of money to get out there doesn't meen he wanted to get boned out of his money. would you spend ten bucks for a coke just because your spending alot on vacation .:face-icon-small-hapjust sayin not tring to start anything

the old iron can do alot of spanking.....
im bringing my old iron on holidays soon...well she actually is paying for half the trip...

Same Rick?

In 1999 towed my '97 700 RMK to Rick's shop as he was walking out the door on superbowl eve. Said he might be able to get to it after the superbowl. (piece of broken ring bouncing around on top of piston) Rick had all the parts and had it done by 11 the next morning! Under $300! No complaints about Rick here.

Well, lets first put your weak-*** analogy in the proper context.

IF I had driven a long long way and spent a butt load of money to ride a place like Cooke City, and

IF I had a problem with my sled that could only fixed with a Coke, and

IF the availability of Cokes was limited

Then, hell yes I would pay $10 for a Coke. It's called cost-benefit analysis. Maybe it's worth it to you to bail on principle over $32 after having already spent $1,500 on a trip, but it's not to me. Once committed, I'll pay to salvage a trip. I might not be happy about it, but I'll pay.

Exactly what I thought-the clown didnt post his receipt for said $32 clip. Therefore, he is lying and a POS. nuff said.

Heyyy, settle down & take a breath there Clarence!
Let's keep it friendly now!

Besides, Who here keeps all their receipts from their trips?

I would bet from here on out. If someone is truly raped, and wants to get on a public forum and complain about, someone will if it is legit. In fact maybe the mods ought to make it a rule that if you want to complain about being overcharged you should have to produce a receipt:face-icon-small-hap Just saying. His word against a man who doesn't feel he needs to get on here and defend himself. That right there shoud speak for itself. Especially when it is only their first post. I still say it is snowsnob as an alter, trying to make his complaint look legit.

wolf, i to would and have payed much more than retail for parts and service. when out of town and in remote areas just to stay out and keep enjoying my self. but that being said i didn,t enjoy it. zeeman said other people in town had the part so it wasn,t the only game in town. being a mechanic for the past 25 years i've never felt the need to take advantage of out of towners mifortunes just to pull down a lousey extra 30 bucks.it won't help any body's business to treat people like that.i'm sure zeeman can aford the 30 bucks but is peeved because of the principle of the deal. if he would have come into my shop i probably would have just good willed him the part. hope you would do the same because you never know when its gonna be you over the barrell.

I guess I don't understand people these days. If that were someone in our group, we would have simply laughed our a$$ off about it. We would never even THINK to bash anybody over it. Let alone get on the internet and slam the business. Hell, I may need to go right back to that business and get another part. I don't want to burn a bridge with one of the few that can HELP you.

We live in a world of entitlement, i swear. The culture has changed over the last 50 years that I have been alive.

People need to think before they post stuff.

pay to play.

i had my converted ditch banger to bear lodge. a homemade mountain sled comprised of 3 different snowmobiles. i burned up a belt and had a ****ty spare meant to get me back if needed. i gladly spent the $140 for a $90 belt to ride as the night before the same shop called all around the area to find a fender washer to fix a broken trailing arm mount and it was all for free. these shops (i worked in one) all do the best they can to balance customer service with paying the bills. and i know from personal experience that living in montana and dealing with deliveries, it can cost as much as alaska to get parts here. so how about maybe he had this clip overnighted for some other guy, with $16 dollars postage and the guy never showed but thats what he was into the part for? is he expected to eat the cost? and believe it or not he probably would have installed free. i highly doubt he was intentional on gouging you.
