Best way to protect your sled from theft?

im taking my sled down to Grande Prairie Alberta this winter and am already trying to think of some preventative measures to keep my sled safe from any scum bag there that wants get his mits on it.i think first off ill get a lock and chain for it when its in my truck box. but i was more wondering in terms of tracking it. can you buy any sort of gps tracker for it? or a lojack system for it? and if so were would be the best ideal place to mount it? i have been ripped off in the past and plan on preventing it from ever happening again.

Lojack works great, a buddy got his sled back last year. The cops found it in a warehouse, lojack led them right to it! Cuttin the arms off a few thieves would be a big help tho!

I have been considering putting one of the better quality motorcycle alarms (motion sensor plus paging alert) on my sled. Would be nice to have legal carry
status IF you get paged.

Good Luck

Then who is going to pay for the thousands of dollars of mods, not the insurance company.

Looking for trouble is a very bad idea IMO. Most states it's illegal, too;
it's their Duty to Retreat that permit holders must abide by.

Amazing, looking for trouble and illegal to put a burglar alarm on your sled and tow rig that pages you when they are stealing your stuff. Thats a very liberal PC idea there!!! What, should we do just set it out by the curb with a FREE sign on it?????

I did not say anything about pulling a gun, just when you catch thieves you never know what kind of guys they are. Much better to be able to defend yourself if need be. And I do realize even if you don't have a weapon and they start a fight and you win, you are likely in trouble, probably more so in Canada. Our legal system takes a dim view of defending ourselves. The first thing would be dialing 911 if sure it was thieves, get license plate numbers, pictures,etc. and then try to stop or slow them down when the cops don't show up.

And Good Luck

Geeze is right. The mentality that you should just give them the stuff, and let insurance cover it is what's wrong with this country.

You know why the 3 strikes rule is so popular, because most crimes are committed by a very few people. If those "very few people" had a short life expectancy, crime would be nill. Sorry, but it's a statistical fact.

I agree with grizz, maybe not the hole arm but the hands for sure... It is very said that your sleds are not safe anymore.

i checked out lojacs websight and it looked like they only hooked up to vehicles with a reasonable sized battery so it looked like it wouldnt work on a sled.

thieves need to be dealt with via forearm shivers and kicks to the kidney. the justice system is a joke!!

example. i had my motorcycle stolen and later recovered. three guys were arrested at the residence for different incidents. the dumbasses spray painted it and left fingerprints that could be seen with the naked eye. had my fairing picked up for prints, but when i picked it up months later the sergeant said they didn't nor would they do latent prints. he continued to explain even if they did find prints that matched they couldn't prove it was the same person who stole it (regardless the proof of being in custody of stolen property). the law does not protect us or hold those d-bags accountable. the next time there is an attempt on my personal belongings a phukn message will be sent. d-bags don't and won't learn unless the living feces is scared out of them.
