Best Place(s) to live in Colorado?

I currently live in the northeast, and am planning on attending college/living in colorado. I was wondering what you guys thought would be the best place to live/start your life in Colorado? I live for sledding, snowboarding, and waterski competively.

Let me know what you guys think...

Thanks - Mitch

That's easy

Grand Junction. I'd say it's one of the best places to live in the country, not just Colorado. I don't know much about waterskiing opportunities around here, though I do have lots of friends who do it (1 is selling his house on a private waterskiing lake if you're interested).

It's a perfect size community (about 130,000) with outdoor recreation opportunities that would be hard to compete with anywhere.

Sledding: World Class - Grand Mesa 45min, Kebler Pass 1.5hours, Flattops 1 hour, Vail 2 hours, Steamboat 3 hours, Lake City 2.5 hours....etc....

Ski resorts: Powderhorn 45 min, Telluride 2hours, Vail 2 hours, Aspen, Snowmass, Buttermilk - 2 hours, Crested Butte 2.5 hours, Silverton Mountain 2.5 hours....the list goes on.

Mountain biking: World Famous

Moto: World Class

Climate: Mild - High desert in town, with alpine only 45minutes away.

Mesa State College: Fastest growing state funded college in Colorado. Excellent business school.

The best economy in the state. Top 3 housing market in the country.... LOVE IT HERE.

I am partial to Durango or Pogosa Springs if I had the chance to move that way. Grand is about as good as it gets also, well for that fact, most all of Colorado has the edge over the SW Mn.

I personally love where I am, Carbondale area. But from what I have seen many neat areas!!!

Colorado is hot and dry this winter. No snow here

Grand Junction is alright. In my line of work I can't find a decent paying job down there. Mesa State is a great school and there is a lot to do around the area. It gets fuggin hot in the summer though. I do my dirtbike riding in the mornings and evenings. Never ridden sleds there at all, would like to someday.

I live in NW Colorado, economy is good but housing is fuggin outrageous! Sledding is only 1/2 hour away in any direction. I have to drive 120 miles each day for work. We only have a small community college here.

I wish I could find a decent house in GJ and make the same amount of dough that I make here and I would be there in a heartbeat!

The natural gas field is booming near Grand Jct and Rifle area, people are making $25.00-$30.00 a hour and tons of hours for OT. Other jobs are paying fairly well as they can't find good help right now, if you can pass a urine test and drug test you should have a job easily!!!

haha, but yeah I can pass a urine test etc. Thanks for the info. My degree is in Radiology (x ray techinician). Sounds like GJ is the best locale.

Thanks - Mitch

I'm in the Army stationed in Co Springs, i came here from IL so i think the Springs is awesome. I'm getting out of the Army and staying here. There are a few good schools along with great atv trails, night life, great mt biking and sledding isn't that far away. Live2ride is correct, the oil companys are hiring, you might want to consider an x ray tech job on one of the 3 military posts, they are federal jobs, can't beat the bennies and the job security. And trust me, all us soldiers are broken from the deployments, i lost count of how many xrays i've had the last few years. Sorry for the long reply, PM me if you have any questions about jobs.

You should move to Bolder.
Then get together with a few friends and have Grass Drags on the Seara Clubs lawn.
I "promise" you wont get into any trouble, just call it a protest.
They do it all the time.
That makes it O.K. RIGHT?

Mitch,

GJ is booming! St. Marys Hospital is currently doing a 48 million renovation and Community Hospital purchased a 40 ac site recently for a new state of the art facility.. So lots of job opportunities for your line of work...

I am in the Real Estate business and can tell you the prices have gone up considerably over the last few years however there are still some good deals out there..

We also own a Motorsports facility that houses a 1 mile paved Shifter Kart track, motocross track and in the spring a new supercross and trials area. it is surrounded by thousands and thousands of acres of OHV riding area for dirt bikes, 4 wheelers etc... GJ is a great palce to live if you are into the outdoors... Corpeleven is a nationally ranked Mtn Biker so maybe he can drag you out for a ride or two...
