Best oil for Axys

Hey everybody. So I just bought an Axys. This will be my first time ever riding a Polaris. I have been a ski doo guy my entire life. What is the best oil to use on the Axys? Also, for those who have made the switch from Doo to Polaris what are some maintenance tips or things I need to know about this Axys compared to ski doos?

Always ran Legend ZX2 SR Oil in mine. Virtually no power valve deposits. Smells good too. Amsoil and Redline oils are good as well, but burn your eyes and have a horrible odor to them.

The one drawback is that you have to order the oil as there are few local dealers. I get mine from "Skadi" on here. She is great to work with!

Run the VES Gold since you don't appear to have a preference already. I've run Legend in a lot of sleds, too, but I've also seen VES buildup with it. There is no magic oil for these motors, and anyone running on a tight budget with a new sled needs to find a different hobby. VES Gold does the job for most. Redline is a fav of many, too.

Vs. doo, poo clutching much more forgiving, as long as your alignment is good. Blow the crud out the clutches routinely just like a doo. Pay attention to the skid - it does not have the bushings like a typical doo, and needs lube more often, and will otherwise wear faster if you're hard on it. Not a bad idea to tear it down every year, clean all shafts, and grease. Wiring on the Axys is better than Pros, but no where near the quality of connectors and wire as doo. Look for rubs, tape and loom as needed. Be prepared to learn how to clean VES more often than RAVE, and how to change a fuel filter once a year (doo has no fuel filter), or pay the dealer. Carry plugs - while you never needed them for an etec, you'll want some, especially during breakin. All your clutch tools will be new, so will quickdrive tools, if you have QD. Much better stock skis - ride them, carbide or hard weld is up to you. That's all I initially think of - Congrats, enjoy the ride!

Unless they changed something for 2017, there's no external fuel filter on the Axys models. The filtration is part of the fuel pump pick up. Online it's listed for about $119.

I run redline. And did in my pro as well with good results

I also Run Legend ZX2 SR......Skadi is great to work with for sure!

I have ran amsoil in every sled I've owned, my wife has an axys and I have a 13 pro. I had indy dan put axys pistons in my pro at 2000 miles and he said everything looked excellent in lower end. Only did top end because everyone on here had me paranoid.

VES = (V)ery (E)xpensive (S)tuff

I run Klotz...smells like cookies:-)

At some point you will regret that decision. It coats everything inside the engine with a thick gooey "Slick 50" like sludge. Which can't be helpful to the running / breathing of any engine. Cookies or not!

Honestly.... Dang near anything thats sold is just fine, just clean your valves frequently. Good habit with any oil anyways.

I used to run polaris oils, legend, klotz, phillips injex... All great oils. Now i run Arctic Blue syn blend, like it and stickin with it, may try the AB full syn on next sled, but i do really like the syn blend.

I found one thats cheap, highly certified, its local, easy to have on hand, and has performed well... Not straying from it! :present:

Also.... I love these posts, every year! :face-icon-small-hap

You have people that preach $40/gal oils, and $15/gal oils. And neither can be proven as a cause when we blow our $hit up!

And rumor has it that Klotz uses Slick 50 to keep everything super lubed. So, I'm stickin' with Klotz!! #Klotz50 #smellslikecookies

Just pokin' fun. My '12 RMK has run Klotz since day 2 and I tore it down last season for new pistons. She was beautifully clean inside. Exhaust valves are always easy to clean too.

With that said, I'll probably switch to Mystic when I burn thru the rest of my Klotz. It's readily available at Fleet Farm and waaay less expensive. I've been testing it out in one of my jetskis the last two seasons and it's been good stuff.

Just pick a well known full synthetic with the correct certifications and ride. Exception is Amsoil Interceptor. Good God, that stuff makes me wanna hurl chunks! Somebody get them some cookie scent.
